It was only February last year when we welcomed Darkspin to the jungletrain.net roster to present the Jungle Carousel Show. This month, he steps into the promomix limelight for the first time to bring you a very special edition, which he would like to emphasize with the following message:

"Racism has always been an issue in society; most recently this was highlighted within the Drum & Bass industry with the whitewashing that is going on and the disregard of people of colour that helped sculpt the scene in the early days to present.

"This music has always been associated with bringing people together no matter your race, creed or colour and from my own experience I can truly say this is true.

"As a result, I wanted to feature artists and labels associated with people of colour that have influenced my musical journey as well as showcase those that are striving to push through because the talent is there.

"It is fitting that this coincides with Black History month in the UK so enjoy the mix and I hope this gets you intrigued to check out those featured you may not be familiar with.

Dexta:
Chris Royle aka Dexta is a London based DJ/Producer who has been slowly contributing to the D&B scene since 2010. He is one of the co-founders of the giraffe mad record label imprint ‘Diffrent Music’ and has been fronting and developing the label ever since.

Dexta has taken the Diffrent Music sound on the road since 2010 and tends to play an unexpected selection of music at every event. Bringing through new and unheard of artists, friends and collaborators and even influential music from outside of the D&B circuit.

Dexta has been a releasing artist since 2013 and since has released music on Protect Audio, Diffrent Music, Flexout Audio & Dispatch Recordings, with other work signed to and forthcoming on Clyon Recordings, Nurtured Beatz and his own imprint Diffrent Music.

Much like the Diffrent Music label ‘sound’, Dexta has a wide range of musical influences and this shines through when you listen over his output and the Diffrent Music back catalogue, it’s very hard to pin down a specific kind of style, it’s more about exploring and experimenting with new and different areas every time.

The Tactical Aspect mix envelopes your ears in warm amens, and ravey, old school esque tunes, before smashing up the place with dark, wicked, steppers!!
