Presenting Volume 5 of the Technicality Sessions: Tim Reaper.

@Tim-Reaper first fell in love with drum ‘n’ bass after discovering @AndyC_ram ’s @Mixmag-1 cover CD as a teenager. Countless hours followed, spent devouring jungle’s deep history – and later attending infamous club nights like @Rupture and our own Technicality. 

Since 2010, he’s earned a reputation within the 160+ realms for carving old-school energy into undoubtedly forward-thinking productions. His music has been reaching ears across the underground spectrum, in part thanks to the release of the 'Cityscapes' four-tracker (@Lobster-Theremin) and a collaborative EP with Special Request on @iamsherelle and @NAINA_ldn ’s @Hooversound Recordings. Followers of his will also be familiar with his releases on Globex Corp (co-run by @Dwarde) over the years. 

Also a DJ and radio host, as well as the owner of record label Future Retro, this mix combines Reaper’s numerous talents harnessing the frenetic energy of classic sets whilst paving the way for a new generation of artists.

1. Tell us about what you have coming up on Parallax Recordings.

There’s a lot in the pipelines. This year we had Justice & Necrotype´s debut EP ‚Natural Spirit’ already and Ron Wells aka Jack Smooth aka Electronic Experienced with the 2 tracker ‚The Born Villain/ The Breaks’ is available to pre-order just now, still due is PARA 015 by Dug, 4 tracks of Darkcore. Matt Bass (PARA017) is due soon too. Then we have the Sync Dynamix EP then, the ‚Overhead‘ EP by Radicall. Well, it technically is an album with 10 tracks on digital and 8 tracks on the double vinyl, the first 12“ will feature 4 dark cuts and the second features the hands in the air piano style that Radicall does so well. The bonus cuts are another darker version of an included tune and a digital exclusive track. After that there´s the 'Portamental' EP by Worldwide Epidemic coming and probably the biggest news: The sequel to the Parazone album which this time will not come out as a box set, but rather as a series of 12“s. There's lots more coming but nothing I can speak about yet.

 

2. Tell us about Peoples Station.

Simple Story: DJ Chromz moved to Berlin and I invited him down to a small Parallax do in an illegal basement and we straight hit it off. Chromz is about 10 years younger than me, so naturally he has a whole different energy. He got in touch with several stations and jungletrain took us on and even gave us a Saturday. So now we are on bi-weekly between 06:30-08:30 (UCT +1). I was toying around with the name ‚Peoples Station‘ for years, although 'The Parazone‘ nearly made it, but the name Peoples Station rang better with the style Chromz is doing too. It is a reference to that Macka Brown tune (https://youtu.be/bWPRFfKXyYk)I  liked the message in there. We try to feed the listeners a lot of exclusives and forthcoming stuff to make the show worthwhile to listen to, it’s literally the only chance to hear what’s forthcoming on the label. Chromz often plays WIP´s and tunes he finished in the last two weeks, some might never come out even. And then we sometimes have guest mixes or oldskool specials. Of course we always try to include other labels and artists, but since we only started at the beginning of this year, there aren’t many yet that sent us stuff.  Here's the call, if you'd like us to play your tune, send it over and if we like it, it’s in. We are all inclusive, and remember folks, you can book the People Station to bring the vibe to your club ;)

1. Tell us about upcoming releases you have.

I've got a vinyl release with Mysmiakos on Ruff Cutz coming out. Bit more of an early 90s hardcorey/darkside sound from me. They're taking pre-orders now.
I also have a track featuring on the UK Jungle Records next vinyl release! This is straight up 'aving it breakcorey Jungle.
There's also a release on NSA Records that should be coming out later this year.

2. Love your producer name, Junglord, how did that come about?

I always found my self putting 'Lord' at the end of my aliases for a period in my early teens. I think it was inspired by my love of Medieval history at the time.
Sometimes I play up to aristocratic persona. The other lads from our label, UK Jungle, often tease me for turning up to gigs wearing collars and cuffs and drinking wine haha.

3. I see you post a lot of great pictures with your family, where is your favorite vacation destination with them?

I spend as many weekends I can in the Peak District to get away from the hussle and bussle of living in Manchester City Centre. Other favoruite spots are North Wales, the Lake District and West Cornwall.

Vinyl Junkie - Everyday Junglist Podcast-Episode 509

A fictional event that took place at the Astoria on Charing Cross Road in London back in the winter months of 1994. Nico, Trace, Ed Rush and the No U-Turn crew in a cloud of smoke on one side of the booth with Pascal, Sponge and the face crew on the other. A banged out Astoria with the lights down low waits as Nico wins the coin toss to step up first - One record each for 60 minutes. The crowd hushes as the needle hits the plate and the crackles on the run in send chills through the building.

That's how it happened in my head anyway :) Mixed on 1210s by myself in the bunker.
