In September of 2017, Puerto Rico was hit by the devastating Hurricane Maria. Numerous towns were flooded, buildings were reduced to rubble, and many people were left injured or without access to food, water, and electricity. While progress has been made since then, there are still many people who are enduring harsh living conditions. Many houses are still missing roofs and a lot of citizens are still without access to electricity and other resources. The most recent estimated death toll was over 4,500, and there is much left to do in the recovery process. We are running out of time. The next hurricane season is already here.

My name is Jorge Rivera-Herrans and I'm a Theatre and Economics student at the University of Notre Dame in Indiana. My best friend, Jonathan Sanchez (aka Lost Atlas), who studies Industrial Design at the Savannah College of Art and Design in Georgia, grew up with me in Dorado, Puerto Rico and we felt strongly for all those back home who are still struggling from the effects of the hurricane. We wanted to help in any way we could. We created the song "The Land of the Forgotten" in hopes of raising awareness about Puerto Rico's current situation and to generate funds to help the cause. The song depicts the living conditions in Puerto Rico during the hurricane and the aftermath as well as the seemingly dissipating amount of awareness that is being spread even though the threats are very much still present.

All generated funds will be sent directly to the Hispanic Federation for hurricane relief in Puerto Rico. Every donation, no matter the size, can help make a difference and is very much appreciated. Please help our beautiful, wonderful island recover.
