Jay Kirsch is originally from Syracuse, New York, and since the 1980's has worked as a guitarist, keyboardist, and sound engineer on both coasts of the United States before moving to Salt Lake City in 1999.  Locally he led the Wasatch Jazz Trio/Quartet/Sextet, co-founded the Wasatch Jazz Project Big Band with Carol Steffens, played jazz piano with Straight No Chaser with vocalist Erica Isom, and played with rock groups Zion Tribe, Shaken Not Stirred, Harry Lee and the Back Alley Blues Band and others.  Jay currently leads the Brazilian band Os Corvos with vocalist Solange Gomes, and performs solo acoustic guitar at various venues.
A believer of blurring the lines between musical genres, he has studied classical guitar with Paul Sweeney, rock guitar with Vince Mascato, and jazz with Al Hamme, Dan Waldis and Scott Terry.  Jay actively composes music, collects vintage musical instruments, and is a musical history buff.  His life's work is in audio research and development, working as an engineer for various companies that make home theater electronics, hearing aids, concert loudspeaker processors, and headphones.
