Mia De Winter, known artistically as Miamor, is a 19-year-old DJ with a diverse background, hailing from Bonheiden, Belgium, and currently splitting her time between Bornem and Antwerp. Her journey into the world of techno music began with a deep-seated love for music inspired by her family. Her brother’s eclectic taste in records and her parents’ musical choices during long car rides—featuring tracks from the 60s, 70s, and 80s—nurtured her appreciation for the funky side of music. This foundation laid the groundwork for her eventual passion for techno.

Miamor approaches her DJ sets with a meticulous yet intuitive process. She continually searches for new songs, carefully selecting tracks based on the event type and its atmosphere while remaining true to her personal style. Her goal is always to craft a positive and engaging vibe through her music. A standout moment in her career came during one of her early gigs with GL$ (Geisha’s Little Secret). The energetic response from the crowd left a lasting impression on her, marking a pivotal point in her career and cementing her love for performing.

Preparation for a DJ set finds Miamor in a calm state of mind. She trusts that any pre-performance jitters will dissipate once she starts playing, focusing instead on ensuring that she’s ready to deliver a great experience. Her current favorite tracks include “SLAP THAT” by GOVNAH, “GET THIS SORTED” by OLLIE LISHMAN, and “Way Of The Underground” by Dr. G. She considers the BPM range of 138 to 145 as ideal, appreciating its versatility across various genres. The techno music scene has evolved significantly throughout her career. Initially drawn to French house, she eventually transitioned to hard house, trance, and groove, finding these styles most exciting. She notes a broader trend towards diverse subgenres and style fusion, which has expanded the genre’s appeal and pushed creative boundaries.

Miamor’s relationship with SFEERBEHEER has been particularly rewarding. From attending their events at Club Vaag and Ampere to performing, she has been impressed by their exceptional lineups and organizational prowess. The lineup featuring Narciss, Horsegriil, DJ Yarak, and Dissolver remains a standout favorite of hers.

Looking ahead, Miamor is enthusiastic about upcoming projects and collaborations, though details remain under wraps. For aspiring techno DJs, her advice is to stay true to their unique sound while being open to continuous learning and adaptation.
