For our next release at Monum3ntal Musiq we welcome Long Distance Rivals to the label family. Always striving to sign more Canadian artists it's our pleasure to welcome no less than 3 to the label with Long Distance Rivals - Better Call Jack EP. Long Distance Rivals is a collaboration between Canadians Jay Vasseur and Sebastien Perron. After more than a decade of working alongside each other as DJs and promoters, they decided to bring their quest to keep the world dancing to a different beat to the studio. Their sound consists strong funk and jazz influences, and their eclectic style of house music finds common ground with its unique and uplifting sound. The lads bring us 2 funky fresh slices of House music starting with their title track Better Call Jack being a jacking percussive slice of house music. track 2 Do Whatcha Do is on a more progressive, tech house tip, tight percussion and summertime melodics make this a really versatile track for those who like all flavors of house. Dustin Funkman is no stranger to the scene with over 20 years in the industry as a DJ and Producer. After relocating to New Brunswick Dustin quickly picked up where he left off, soon racking up a busy schedule across the festival season and club circuit, always trying to elevate and innovate, you can expect to hear a technical set that often includes his own re-edits and productions. Here he brings us a cheeky high-energy Breaks remix of Better Call Jack to round out this excellent 3 tracker.

Made a new mix of tracks I played recently at the Relics Festival. Was great to share the weekend with so many amazing djs and bands and people I haven't seen forever. I played this show B2B as Long Distance Rivals with one of my best friends. Unfortunately, most of the shows were not recorded so this mix is mostly new tracks that I brought to play myself. We played a 6am sunrise set which kind of dictated the kind of tracks we played. If you were there, you'll recognize some of these.

The Feeling

A seasoned veteran of Canada's east coast music scene, Jay has spent most of his entire life manipulating sound in one way or another. With over twenty years of experience both behind the decks and in producing his own tracks, Jay Vasseur has the ability to combine all genres of music into a unique style of his own with blends that are smooth, seamless and always captivating. 
Jay specializes in house music, but has very eclectic tastes in music. You can expect to hear anything in a typical set, ranging from deep to chicago to progressive to electro to tech house or all of it mixed together. When in the mood, you may hear a downtempo, liquid dnb/dubstep or breaks set, as well. If it's worth hearing, you'll hear it done right.
