Deep Impact Episode #113 on Proton Radio | Jelly For The Babies

Nat Russell has been playing music since the mid-nineties, initially as lead guitarist in a punk band as a young teen. A friend proverbially dragged Nat to an underground Sydney club - Sublime, in the late nineties and her love of electronic music was born.


The Global Underground compilations exposed Nat to the likes of big-name progressive DJs such as Sasha, John Digweed, Darren Emerson, Dave Seaman, Sander Kleinenberg, Way Out West and Deep Dish, and Nat purchased her first set of decks at the age of nineteen. 

Moving to Melbourne in 2002 cemented her passion for the electronic music scene and DJing. By then she had a healthy vinyl addiction and was a fan of record labels such as Bedrock, Renaissance, Baroque, Platipus, Yoshitoshi and dabbled in breaks, through 
the sounds of Plump DJs, Krafty Kuts and Stanton Warriors.
 
Nat has current residencies at Arbory Afloat, Music Room Melbourne and UK-based radio station AATM Radio. Nat regularly plays B2B as part of the Floating Dreams collective – a crew of Melbourne DJs playing deep, organic and melodic house. Nat has recently supported artists such as Sébastien Léger [All Day I Dream / Lost Miracle], Double Touch [All Day I Dream, TRYBESof], Martin Roth [Anjunadeep], Fede Pals [3rd Avenue; The Purr], Kasey Taylor & Karl Pilbrow [Sudbeat], James Beetham [Late Night Music], DJ Koze [Pampa Records], Gerd Janson [Running Back, DE], GMJ & Matter [Meanwhile, Sudbeat] and Weird Sounding Dude [Anjunadeep / The Soundgarden].

I created Club 76 on Facebook during lockdown 2020 as a platform for DJ's and artist to Livestream. We have had over 60 DJ's worldwide performing on our page and have raised over £6,000 for charities.

Due to Facebook's tough stance on Livestream DJ's I have now turned to radio. I have a regular 10pm Saturday night slot on House Fusion Radio.

My sound is progressive, soulful and expressive deep house. My music is inspired by producers like Double Touch, Tim Green, Lee Burridge, Jerro, Lane 8 and anyone that can produce music to move a listener and touch the soul. I closely follow Anjunadeep and All Day I dream.
I love listening to music while walking in the great outdoors particularly at sunrise and sunset.

Hopefully, my music can stir some emotion.
