“Hi y’all my name is Bambi. My DJ name is Batty Gyal. I’m a DJ from the Bronx currently based in Brooklyn. I’m terrible at introductions so bear with me lol. My relationship with music (or sound in general) has always been one very innate and something that helped me feel in touch with myself. Growing up I was sort’ve a loner. Letting people in was quite difficult for me, so a habit I built up was just listening to tons of music to help me get a bearing on my emotions or just make me feel something in general. My playlists since I was a kid would range from The Deftones to Robert Hood to Celine Dion so the way I approach music still carries that same eclectic mindset. I get bored really easily, so I tend to try and incorporate all types of genres in my mixes because I love a challenge plus I’m a Libra so I can’t decide what I like the most ! Last year my life was so awful and since everything was at such a standstill, it gave me the push I really needed to take music seriously from playing around on a shitty djing app in my bedroom to investing in actual music equipment. Music has built up my confidence since I’m in control to create whatever sonic landscape that matches my feelings. At its essence, music is liberation and it lets me feel comfortable with exploring different facets of myself I didn’t know I had so I’m forever grateful for that.”
