Lola Young - Messy (BVRNOUT Remix)

14 years ago, I finished my first full song — a remix of “Little White Doves” by Dirty Vegas.

I first discovered the song when I saw EC Twins play their remix of it at LavoNY. The moment I heard it, I was instantly hooked. There’s something about the song’s lyrics that are irresistibly catchy — they’re emotional yet uplifting, and impossible not to sing along to.

A couple of months later, Dirty Vegas just so happened to launch a remix contest for the song. I had only been producing for a few months, but I was inspired to take a crack at putting my own touch on it.

While I didn’t win the contest and my skills as a producer were limited at the time, I created a song that I was proud of and that my close friends and I have enjoyed listening to for almost a decade and a half since.

However, I’ve always felt that I could do better with the track. 

So a few weeks ago, I decided to give it another go and remade my version from the ground up, and as a cover this time.

The original’s sing-along vocals and catchy guitar riff remain at the core, now layered with new piano chords, pounding kicks, and pulsing synths.

I loved breathing new life into a song that’s held such a special place in my heart for such a long time, and hope you enjoy listening to it as much as I loved creating it.
