I would say "Circus EP" is a bit groovier than previously. I've been working a lot more with bass. Before, my music was more minimal with a shuffle techno vibe but for this release I didn't do any shuffle. I guess you could call this my new sound. It's in between tech house and techno. The bass is more housey anyway, but the energy is still techno.

Shake It (Daniel Stefanik Berghain Edit) - Circus EP, SCI+TEC

Bwana is a name you may not have heard from in a while. Well, the reasons for that are apparent now: in spite of a strong start, he didn’t want to get swept away as the digital tide went out. Having secured a coveted release on Will Saul’s Aus - not to mention mastering by Gingy, and backed with a Simian Mobile Disco remix on the flip - the man is evidently making good on lost time with “Flute Dreams”.

If that title raises an immediate red flag, fear not. The track does well to repair the (justifiably) wretched reputation that flautists have accrued from their “contributions” to prog rock and Goa trance. Gliding across a galloping beat and a deep bassline stretched repeatedly to disintegration, the flute in question sits cosily, tag-teaming any synth line for a melody that’s tonally richer and a little more distinctive. Odds on you’ll find yourself whistling this in no time.

Madrid-based producer/DJ GAZZI reveals the second single 'Diving In Clouds' taken from his forthcoming EP via Parisian label Ano Ano.

‘Diving Clouds’ is straight up hot-to-the-touch dancefloor fire. In true GAZZI style, we’re given a busy, loopy 4x4 beat laced groove with delicious percussion, elevated through expansive vocals and synths. An off-kilter, fuzzy, raw synth seeps its way into every corner of the track, providing a sinister growl in the low end that’s matched by a smooth, R&B-style vocal at the high end of the frequency.

GAZZI, the musical alias of Pablo Jiménez, proudly hails from Linares, Jaén in the historical community of Andalusia near Spain. Saying that, his sound would make you think he was a regular at FWD night in London. Heavily influenced by the founders of that sound, the likes of Burial, Four Tet et al. His music blends post-dubstep, UK bass, deep house, and breakbeat. Now based in Madrid, GAZZI has performed at top venues like Nitsa and festivals such as Sonár and Primavera Sound, where in 2022 he performed his first ever Boiler Room set.

If you’re not yet aware of the rising, rousing sound of GAZZI, the ‘Tus Ojos’ EP is a fine place to start. Be aware, though - this will not be the last you hear from this talented Andalusian artist.
