This Tech House banger is a mashup up of Riva Starr's remix of "Dr Funk" by Carl Cox and Eli Escobar's acapella from "Chaka Khan." I rearranged the vocal a bit, added a few sweeps and FX...but the rock solid nature of the originals are still what makes this shine.

This one started out as a mellow and soulful episode, built into some proper funk then ended up being a bit of an extended funk and disco session! Proper fun times. Lots of attempting to mix old stuff together so some slightly rough beatmatching at times, and one occasion where I stopped the wrong deck... whoops!

'The Daydream Disco Mix Series' aims to bring you the best nudisco, soul, funk and house vibes to kick start your week. Each mix is made up of 10 of our guests favourites tracks of the moment. This week we are super excited to be able to bring you a sterling guest mix from the amazing - DJ Emma!

DJ Emma is a DJ, producer and broadcaster from Wiltshire with a passion for Soul, Funk, Boogie, Disco and House Music. She has performed at many of the UK festivals including Glastonbury, Creamfields, Camp Bestival, Wilderness, Shindig and was asked this summer by Colleen ‘Cosmo’ Murphy to do a special ‘Balearic Breakfast’ set at We Out Here Festival in her iconic ‘Love Dancin’ tent.  

She is a regular warm-up choice for Craig Charles on his Funk and Soul Club tour across the South West of the UK including London and Bristol.

She’s also supported the likes of Huey Morgan from BBC 6 Music, Crazy P, Groove Armada and Mousse T and has recently played alongside Kirollus, Micheal Gray, Cody Currie at Bristol Disco Festival.

The Funkdown Show May 2023

Jay's sound is mainly focused around Soul, Funk and Disco influences but also likes to bring Classic House sounds in his sets as well.
