Secret - Sam Mendez / Sergio Parraga / Jamie Rhind

This my and GMO's @gmo2020 third song together! Similar to the others we've collaborated on, he produced all the drums and percussion, I added the melodic parts, and then he finalized the mix and mastered. This is an especially strange experiment-- the slowest tempo I've ever worked with, 50bpm. We thought the resulting ultra slowed down vibe would fit with the concept of absolute zero, "the lowest temperature that is theoretically possible".

I discovered the image used in the cover art on Wikimedia Commons, uploaded by the European Southern Observatory (ESO)-- it is produced by the artist L. Calçada and represents a view from the surface of Pluto.

Jayms Joyce is an independent electronic musician from Philadelphia who produces a unique style of indie electronic music. New to the electronic music scene, Jayms Joyce released his first single in 2021. His most recent release, a four-song EP titled Budump, was released June 16th, 2023. While new to electronic music production, Jayms Joyce is not new to music. He first gained exposure to music as a classical pianist and grew up competing in classical piano competitions. Jayms Joyce released an indie rock album in 2010 and played in a small band in Philadelphia for almost 3 years before taking a hiatus from recording and performing to focus on developing his career outside of music. Like many other musicians, the pandemic inspired Jayms Joyce to begin pursuing his passion for music again, this time developing his unique retro-futuristic synthwave/techno/indie electronic sound and honing his live electronic act, in which he performs live synthesizer parts alongside his produced tracks. Jayms Joyce has since performed his live electronic set to electronic music appreciators at events like Dancing on the Charles in Boston and is working on new releases through collaborations with other developing Philadelphia musicians.
