Red Eye Gravy

I wrote this song after a trip to the Milwaukee Zoo with my friend Clark, who was 7 or 8 at the time.  We saw a JIM suit or personal submersible there (see image) and I was struck by the names of this underwater astronaut-like suit.  

Clark was asleep in the backseat when, on the way home, we passed a city park on Lake Mendota (James Madison Park) and the words in the song are literally the conversation we had.  I said, "Clark, what's that pile of white stuff on the beach?" (I thought all the snow was gone.)  He said, "Foam!  Or maybe some sand with the tan knocked out of it."  I believe he'd been sound asleep when I asked, given his otherworldly response.

Clark is now all grown up and just moved across the country with his sweetie.  I made this recording as a going away present for him.
