Nijolé & Zeyenne - The Beginnings EP [UWD002]

The EP, ”New Beginnings” is the collective work of two very gifted world acclaimed artists; Nijolé, a classical pianist and Zeyenne, an Electronic Music producer. Their collaboration in Zurich in the fall of 2020 has produced an inspired collection of harmonies both romantic and stirring combining pulsing beats with piano. The results are breathtakingly beautiful! Nijolé’s harmonies are based on jazz and gospel influences combined with her tremendous background in orchestration. Zeyenne with his talented skills as a producer, his understanding of space feeling for sound creations gives the EP a sensational 3D effect.

He's done an exceptional job joining the best of old and new — fusing instant classics like 'Tuesdays' and 'Orleans' with modern collaborations with Ferry Corsten, Christian Burns, Senadee, Bo Bruce and more.

A man of many talents -- singer, songwriter, and producer -- Norwegian artist Astroleaf is a proud new addition to our label roster. His Silk Music debut, "Open Your Heart," showcases his versatility as a composer, as well as the musicality and emotional depth of his work. This gorgeous broken-hearted ballad, a hybrid of the alternative singer-songwriter and progressive breaks genres, is paired with extraordinary remixes by label veteran LTN, who offers the poignant 'Sunrise' treatment. 

Astroleaf's stunning original version of "Open Your Heart" is a sonic plea to a former lover to give their relationship one more chance. The unforgettable refrain, "Open your heart, my darling," gives the song its name and strikes an indelibly emotional chord in the listener's own heart. A resonant bassline and a slowed-down, steady breakbeat offer the track plenty of low-end power as well. On vocals, Astroleaf evinces instant star power, as his voice is quite naturally both distinctive and affective, and the pop qualities of his songwriting are balanced well with elegant and mature compositional touches throughout the arrangement.

Ever-reliable Indonesian sensation LTN delivers a breathtaking vocal remix, thereby adding to his celebrated series of chilled, yet emotive 'Sunrise' interpretations of vocal electronic tracks. In the early going, a moody atmosphere sets the stage for the arrival of Astroleaf's vocal, which has been slowed down for enhanced sentimental effect. Crystalline melodies, stirring strings, and evocative pads provide the backdrop for the verses, as well as an especially incisive piano theme. Not following a traditional arrangement, the remix proceeds with a patient crescendo, offering a series of mini-breaks, but not an extended breakdown. The result is an exceedingly moving aural journey, guided by the mellifluous "narration" of the promising Astroleaf.
