JT the Goon is a living legend, quietly doing amazing things. while other producers hustle for attention and fame, JT just quietly drops a bag of masterpieces in selected DJ's inboxes. 

When I check my inbox , I am blown away.. I feel humble its like Van Gogh sending u the sunflowers all casual like.. awh heres another one I just made..

JTs' history is Grime pedigree, he was a founding member of Slew Dem, pre 2000 he was spitting over Jungle vinyl and hitched up with Waifer who was DJing in those times.

I asked him what his earliest memory of a Grime track was, it was his own, made on Playstation 2000, in the year 2000. Waifer loved it & had it pressed to vinyl the other they took to Lewi Whites's house where MCs went crazy for it including GMan

Gunman Riddim an early Grime track that has inspired 1000s of vocalists and a chain of remixes since its release in grimes infancy, attributed to Waifer, not so many people know that JT the Goon also deserves credit on the production.

JT left Slew Dem to focus on family life but never stopped doing music and like a butterfly he has emerged with a very different style of grime, powerfully crafted works of art, a prodigy, his output is prolific and exacting, breath taking, like classical symphonies his music can lead the listener on magial musical landscapes, and through a tempest of emotions, carrying you away on thunderous storm then gently float you gently back to earth like a leaf in a breeze, then tickle your brain and turn your body inside out with a reversed bass, your left not quite sure what happened to you but you know it was good.. 

It gives me great pleasure to showcase just a small selection of the music he has sent to me.

Rising Croydon DJ/producer B:Thorough has linked up with Boxed affiliate and early Slew Dem member JT The Goon for a collaborative EP. ‘Calm Levz’ arrives via B:Thorough’s freshly-mined imprint, Textured, on March 25th – digitally and via limited edition cassette. Peppering the grime instrumental template with oboe hits and gun cocking samples, the title track reflects the crystalline spin-off sound that instrumental grime has become synonymous with.

Premiere: B:Thorough X JT The Goon - 'Calm Levz'

Emerging grime producer B:Thorough kicks off his new imprint, Textured, with an attention-grabbing release, enlisting Slew Dem and Boxed affiliate JT The Goon for a five-track EP titled ‘Calm Levz’. Each track has been produced collaboratively and the influence of both artists is immediately audible, with JT’s inimitable flutes and B:Thorough’s pixelated 8-bit melodies combining to create a unique fusion of grime’s past, present and future.

Opening the EP is Night Wave (Sunrise Mix), a tapestry of hard-hitting drums, melancholy strings and glittering melodies.

The EP will be released digitally and as a limited-edition cassette, which will also feature a production-only mix full of rarely-heard gems from the imprint’s head.
