It was great to witness the outpouring of love and respect for Gil Scott-Heron over the weekend. 

A true innovator and inspiration to so many, I wanted something to play out over the weekend and came across this forgotten classic whilst digging through the collection.

Even though it has very little to do with Gil Scott-Herons usual production style being a house track (produced by Paul Waller) built on a selection of samples from classic records including Mr Fingers 'Can You Feel It', 808 State's "Pacific State' and vocal snippets from First Choice's "Let No Man Put Asunder', there's a rawness to the production that's totally fitting to Gil Scott-Herons apocalyptic tale.

JT, born Jay Tipa, is a soulful house DJ who has been spinning tracks since 1985. JT's passion for house music started at a young age back in his hometown of East London. He spent countless nights and weekends listening to DJs spin at local clubs, and it wasn't long before he was inspired to learn how to DJ.

JT started off playing local gigs at house parties and small events. He quickly built a reputation for himself as a talented and versatile DJ who could seamlessly mix different genres of music. He also had a keen ear for great music and was often the first among his peers to discover new and exciting tracks.

Over the years, JT continued to refine his craft, experimenting with different styles and techniques to keep his sets fresh and exciting. He drew inspiration from some of the greats, including Frankie Knuckles, David Morales, and Louie Vega. By the early 90s, JT's reputation had grown beyond East London , and he began playing gigs across the country.


JT's love for house music has never faded, and he continues to inspire and entertain audiences today, four decades after he first picked up a pair of turntables.
