Some of you may of heard that the club has a strict no camera policy, so there were no recording at the event. So, I thought I would share with you guys the music from that amazing night. A change of genre after a successful career in the Hardstyle scene. Shay is no stranger to MainStage festivals and dark underground warehouse parties. Started DJ-ing in 2006, with releases with some of the Hardstyle heavyweights like: Technoboy and The Prophet.  Shay is also a recognised vocalist from tracks like “Gangsta” by Tatanka and Zatox. 

After moving to Berlin in 2018 it was a natural progression for Shay to explore the limitless textures of Techno. Studying modular synthesis, and combining LIVE performances with hybrid sets to regular DJ-ing and anything in between. Shay’s vision is to take everyone on a journey into the dark Industrial sounds of Underground Techno.

The atmosphere at the Hydraulix Party was so special, and it was great to get the chance to speak to everyone on the night. No cameras allowed, so I thought it would be good to share with you all the amazing music that I played on the night. Expect the tempo to build with the true techno sound as the Hydraulix crowd entered the building, finishing off to a packed dance floor was a very unique experience. What a line to be part of in London, with the brilliant Ayako Mori turning things up a notch after my set, and then Angy Kore & Gabriel Padrevita blew the roof! The energy levels just kept rising all night with D.A.V.E The Drummer finished his set with a 200bpm monster! Add to that the stunning visuals from Phil, Jay and Justine. Love it in FOLD, as the team that run the place do an amazing job. Can't wait to do it all again soon. :)

Rave Society (1993-1996)('10 Years After Flashback' Guest Mix)

Amsterdam Techno Sessions is a weekly Techno event, held every Thursday in Amsterdam. We are delighted to have partnered with Threads radio to create our first radio show. In every show, we will invite local and international acts to showcase their work. 

For our ninth episode, we invited the Hydraulix head honcho and London´s favorite, D.A.V.E The Drummer! Hailing from London’s illegal warehouse party scene that exploded in the 90’s, DJ & producer D.A.V.E. The Drummer started the techno label Hydraulix in 1998 as an output for his own production ideas. The label intended to bridge the gap between the Acid Techno of his previous productions and a darker style of techno that D.A.V.E. was experimenting with in the studio. 

Hydraulix made some big waves in the Hard Techno scene throughout the 2000’s and is still going strong with many of the new releases hitting the top spots in the Beatport Hard Techno Charts. 

Tracks from Hydraulix have found their way into the playlists of some of the world’s top DJs as well as keeping a huge following of underground Techno DJs across the globe.

D.A.V.E’s recent music reflects a shift toward a darker stripped back techno sound and the label is still at the forefront of the techno scene winning respect from many DJs and taking on board fresh young artists as well as releasing tracks by seasoned Hydraulix regulars.

Still a hard-working DJ and Producer, D.A.V.E. is responsible for remixes and productions for many great techno labels over the years including Suara, Harthouse, Fine Audio, Noom, Reklusive, Respect, Naked Lunch, Phobiq, Elektrax, Techburst, Cluster, S.U.F. Routemaster, Smitten and of course Hydraulix, Apex and Mutate To Survive.

Jay Tommy is believed to be the one to watch amongst the new breed of techno artists from the UK, creating a sound that combines the pounding acid warehouse with the deep and melodic, heavily influenced by the underground rave scene. 

His progress has taken years of dedication in the studio and mentoring under the innovative Mark EG at his renowned music school, resulting in an instantly recognisable sound of techno and acid. 

Since an early age, Jay has been performing with the biggest artists in techno. Having made his FOLD debut at the age of twenty-one, performing an emotional and explosive set with the king of acid techno D.A.V.E. The Drummer at the legendary London club, leaving a packed dance floor craving more. Now a regular at parties in the capital with his energy building sets, having shared the decks with the likes of Perc, Slam, Annē, Angy Kore & Gabriel Padrevita and more. 

This was followed in 2023 by his first UK festival appearance at Boomtown in Area 404, performing a high-energy acid-techno set alongside some of the best underground artists in the scene. Although some know him for his high octane sounds, his versatility is shown when supporting major artists, with his ability to adapt making him stand out from the crowd.

In spite of his young age, Jay has already released music on some of the biggest labels in techno. His main highlight so far has been the collaboration ‘Movement EP’ with Mark EG on the mighty Hydraulix at the start of 2023, with the release enjoying chart success in hard techno. This has been followed by collaboration requests to work with more heavyweight producers on prestigious labels, so listen out for those exhibited at upcoming events in the near future.

Alongside performing and producing music, Jay runs his own dark techno and acid label, Tommy Trax, which was founded in 2019. Tommy Trax has provided the perfect platform to experiment with his own unique sound and has already attracted the attention of the big hitters in techno. This has also given Jay the chance to collaborate with some huge artists, no more so than on the ‘Delete EP’ in 2021 with Dino Maggiorana, propelling the label into the spotlight of the underground rave community. The start of 2022 has seen the ‘Renaissance EP’ with Roentgen Limiter and Ayako Mori played by some of the scene’s most respected names, like Parfait, deservedly enjoying hard techno chart success at the same time. 

At the end of the same year, the ‘Intoxication EP’ by ROBPM, Nusha and Jay Tommy exploded onto the late night dance floors, with support from T78, Ben Dust, Lessss and more. The pinnacle moment when ROBPM dropped the main track at the huge Affenkäfig Festival in Germany. His final success of the year came when Jay’s rework of his original track ‘Hidden Addiction’ was supported by Nusha on her world tours.

As the hype increases over the coming years, it will be interesting to see how his music ascends into the global scene and shakes the late night dance floors. It’s clear that Jay Tommy will influence musical trends with his own unique take on the warehouse rave.
