A rising name in Berlin’s ever crowded pool of talents, Eerste Communie resident Windfuhr has been developing his own idiosyncratic persona at the junction of heavy-traction 4x4 rhythms and deep, hypnotic folds of intricate melodies and exotica-laced electronics. Minimal in essence but maximal in effect, his compositions bridge the gap between stripped-back functionality and dreamy escapology, neatly coordinating the throbbing cavalcade of racy uptempo machine funk with layered, modular-like transmissions as his feverish drum programming leads the charge. No doubt Windfuhr’s name is one you’ll hear a lot more in 2024.

Deluka is the Naples-born/Berlin based name behind Friedrichshain record store and label No Signal Records. With roots as an eager acolyte of the much fêted rhythms of the American Midwest, he switched house for techno and got to work at an early age. It was 2011 when he made it to Berlin, and not long before he started playing venues like Tresor’s little brother OHM. A few years later he started No Signal with the release of his deeply atmospheric EP ‘Echoes’ (2021), and followed it up with another eight, a mixture of his and other artists’ work. Driven by a profound passion for his craft, his productions and performances are a throbbing, fully immersive protocol that holds attention in its iron grip. Endlessly experimenting and refining, his reputation as master music maker has spread like a prairie fire throughout the world of techno, not least of which due to releases on labels like AMOTIK+, KSR and Future Architecture (including his most recent ‘Heroes’ EP - May 8th). Think sparsely populated soundscapes, minimal but groovy peak-time fare. For Bassiani Podcast 214 he lands another formidable blow with just over three hours of circling drones and heavily resonating beats; bare-bones techno that compels and entrances, pays homage to the sounds that made him and remains unpredictable in its innovative sleight of hand.

We're delighted to present you the 4th podcast of our yearly summer series, with Mareena in the mix for this week!

Mareena is an artist on the rise, but present in the techno scene for a long time! Musically spoken, her roots branch deep into the spirit and sound of dub techno and pre and early 2000s techno productions. Adding to this foundation, Mareena has developed a statement sound over the years characterized by rhythmic, lively, and non-linear beats that create an unrelenting flow of energy on the dancefloor. This foundation has earned a long-standing residency (since 2012) in the techno institution Tresor, which stands for a similar ethos. Authentic, but always evolving.

Her ability to include hard and elegant elements into her vinyl-oriented sets has led her to play at multiple venues and parties across the globe such as Berghain, Faust (Seoul) and our very own Frenzy editions, where she will be part of again on September 14!

Jonas Kopp is a DJ and sound designer, internationally recognized for his avant-garde artistic developments within the techno scene and vibrational sounds. It has a career that has transcended borders, emerging in Buenos Aires, Argentina in the nineties, then temporarily residing in cultural epicenters such as Berlin and Barcelona.

During the past years he has been collaborating with major techno institutions such as Axis records of Jeff Mills, Tresor, Semantica and Tremsix, his own platform.

His DJ sets are consciously created with the purpose of projecting the audience into timeless spaces, activating in the audience a new state of consciousness and self-understanding the deep listening experience.

AgainstMe, also known as Kostas, is a DJ and producer originally from Greece and now based in Berlin. He plays a significant role in the electronic music scene as a co-founder of SOCIETY 3000 and a core member of USM Recordings. His musical journey began at the age of 16, in which he began DJing and crafting a range of sounds across the musical spectrum. The AgainstMe project was inspired by Kostas’ enlightenment by Techno at the age of 18 and the ceremonial nature of its gatherings. AgainstMe takes an unconventional approach to producing, experimenting with Modular Systems to create bleepy and groovy sounds. He has released on labels such as Subsist Records, Warok and Voxnox.

He’s single handedly re-defining the soundscape of techno and electronic music as we know it with his punchy non-traditional basslines for the genre. This mix is giving dark, groovy, bouncy and danceable Techno that will get you up on your feet and moving! 

With a strong catalogue of releases, including features on labels such as K92, Noah Tauber has recently started to build a name for himself playing out in London and Berlin. We’re very excited to see how things progress for Noah and feel privileged to have him as our first guest.
