PREMIERE: Michael Reinboth — As If By Magic [Compost]

'As If By Magic' is Michael Reinboth’s third release under his real name, produced with Jan Krause (Beanfield), and with a cover image by Ena Oppenheimer. A vibrant mid-tempo delight, the drums are played by Peter Gall, whose album “Love Avatar” was named “Best Jazz Album of 2024” by the German Jazz Awards. On keyboards is Roberto Di Gioia, mastermind of Web Web and Marsmobil. The package comes complete with an atmospheric remix from Moodorama, riding high on a wave of recent remixes for Jazzanova, Charles Petersohn, Beatkozina, and Inkswel.

`This has been something I've worked on over Xmas 2025. Probably 20 hours have gone into this daft little project! 

Rebuilt from the original demo's stems, recorded at Rich Bitch in Birmingham, October 1995. Put onto the grid, drums beefed up and tidied, bass guitar reamped, extra guitars, extra vocals taken from contemporary 4-track recordings, bells and whistles, and then given some mastering.

`It's not how we'd play the song now - it's not a song we would even WRITE now. This has just been a chance to go back to an old friend and show it some love, thirty years on.
