Stell dir vor, die Welt geht unter. Die Natur verreckt, die Menschheit stolpert hysterisch ins Aus, und du hängst irgendwo zwischen Angstzuständen und der Pommesbude fest, unfähig zu entscheiden, was dir gerade wichtiger ist. Genau hier, in dieser apokalyptischen Zone des Unbehagens, findest du „Pausenhofpoeten“.

Die neue EP von Ducks on Drugs ist nichts für Leute, die polierte Antworten suchen. Sie ist eher ein ausgestreckter Mittelfinger in Richtung Ernsthaftigkeit der Menschheit, die sowieso den Bach runtergeht - und wenn eh alles brennt, dann lieber mit einer Portion Pommes in der Hand. Hier gibt’s kein Happy End, keine Rettung. Ducks on Drugs kümmern sich lieber um das, was bleibt, wenn alles zu Staub zerfällt. Zum Beispiel der beruhigende Gedanke, dass selbst ein Furz epischer sein kann als das Comeback der Beatles.

Der Versuch, irgendwas Sinnvolles zu erschaffen, wird eh überbewertet. Warum sollte man sich in Nächten, in denen die Gedanken endlos Karussellfahren, überhaupt noch der Illusion hingeben, alles im Griff haben zu müssen? Sei zu dumm zum Knacken, dreh dich hin und her, grübel weiter - Ducks on Drugs
helfen dir dabei, aber ohne Mitleid. Denn manchmal ist es pure Schadenfreude, die uns am Leben hält. Und dazwischen? Liebe. Wer sich jemals in einer Person verloren hat, die Gummibärchen in den Jackentaschen hat, wird diese Songs verstehen. Hand in
Hand, fühlt man sich da angesichts eines apokalyptischen Showdowns nicht gerade gut ausgestattet, aber immerhin ein bisschen weniger betroffen beim Sterben.

Das ist keine Musik, die dich retten will - sie bleibt mit dir im Abgrund stehen, reicht dir eine Zigarette und nickt dir zu. Und wenn die Menschheit endlich die Bühne verlässt, machen Ducks on Drugs das Licht aus - ganz entspannt. 

Spoiler: Die Erde braucht uns eh nicht.
