Jazz Record Art Collective presents: Kenny Burrell's "A Night at the Vanguard", performed by Andy Brown on guitar, Joe Policastro on Bass and Mikel Avery on drums. 

"A Night at the Vanguard" (also released as "Man at Work") was a live album recorded in 1959 at the Village Vanguard, a jazz club located in Greenwich Village, New York City. The club was opened in 1935 by Max Gordon as a forum for poets and artists as well as a site for musical performances. By 1957 Gordon put jazz acts at the top of the bill and was a host to many recording sessions that are regarded as masterpieces in its basement with players such as Sonny Rollins, John Coltrane and Bill Evans. 

​The original album featured Kenny Burrell on guitar, Richard Davis on Bass and Roy Haynes on drums.
