Funky DL pays tribute to the legendary hip-hop sounds of J Dilla and Nujabes by recreating their famous songs on this fantastic album entitled... "February: A Rest In Beats Tribute To The Sounds of J Dilla & Nujabes".

Working tiresomely in the studio, DL with assistance from some of his musical pals crafted a full studio album paying homage to and celebrating the creative ideas originally brought to hip-hop by both the late James 'J Dilla' Yancey and Sebajun 'Nujabes' Yamada.

However, DL veers away from intense sampling, avoiding the same breaks as used by Dilla & Nujabes - to bring this fabulously musical, creative and jazzy tribute album.

DL felt it fitting for the album to be named February, being that (coincidently) these two hip-hop legends were both born on February 7th 1974, and sadly passed away in February 2006 and February 2010 respectively.

As Funky DL's intention was to capture the essence and soulful connection of what they 'both' brought to music lovers around the world, DL carefully hand- selected each track from the catalogues of these two legends and crafted as elegant of a representation as he could to showcase a further progression into the wealth of ideas from Dilla and Nujabes; but taking them that one step further and going beyond the usual restrictions of using only the contents of original samples.

This album is certain to bring back the nostalgia of the classics that each track was born from, as well as offering an entirely new audio perspective. The fans of both J Dilla and Nujabes will be pleasantly surprised.

The latest project released by Budamunk & Joe Styles is the very soulful album titled "Soul Quest".  On this album, journey along with Budamunk and Joe Styles as they pay homage to the great sounds of 90s R&B, Neo-soul, and Jazz, infused into their signature boombap style of hiphop. The origins of BudaStyles was formulated during Budamunk and Joe Styles early years as The Keentokers Crew. The chemistry between the two was instantly recognized. Budamunk had big respect for the way Joe Styles came up with different songs, ideas, concepts,and how he is versatile when approaching tracks. Same time Joe Styles gained a deep admiration for the way Budamunk created beats, developing a signature swing with his drums, to the warm groovey bass-lines, and melodic sounds, they both began recording a slew of tracks that came out as projects such as, "BudaStyles Classics"(2009), "Keentokers The Fresh Speech"(2011), "Blunted Monkey Fist 2"(2013),"From LA To Tokyo"(2013).They both share a strong love for 90s R&B and Hiphop Golden Era, as well as Jazz, 70s Soul, and Neo Soul.

Hard Times

I feel incredibly honored to once again get the honor to go to Copenhagen with a large part of the Scandinavian crew and spend a weekend filled with beats. The show this year was held in the same place as as last year, at the incredibly nice place called Byhaven, Pumpehuset. 7 incredibly talented producers with 5 of them included in the official roster. I would like to thank Shatter Hands from the Berlin Zoo Crew, as well as Axian because they wanted to come and present their beats as well as run their sets. The Saturday consisted of us teaming up at Bryggens Beat Club, where Max I Million performed an extra set, which was actually decided on late Friday evening, so it became a night of beats again and we also had the honor of meeting some Copenhagen beatmaking OG's.

The single, that was released by Boukas called 'Metropolis' was the first sneak preview of the visit we had there, and the cover of it was taken outside of the BEAT Vinyl record store, such an amazing place and if you're in Copenhagen it's definitely a place to visit.

The compilation has been executively produced by Lars 'Kongchain' Hartmann.
