Jazz Cabbage 001 : YGT - Chrono-synclastic Infundibulum EP (Out July 7th)

Released a month ago on Clone Royal Oak, Tree of Life was only part of the digital pack of the release, so i feel i need to shed more light on it as it’s actually one of the production i’m the most proud of, 
and for one particular reason: it’s the only track i’ve made without thinking anything at that moment. Using almost exclusively one piece of my studio (the Nord Rack 2x), I’ve tried to completely shut off any conscious influence, like an exercice in free composition (like an « automatic drawing ») and i found out that it represents actually very well what feeling i want to give through my tracks, no matter what genre or bpm.. (maybe even because it sounds so shapeshifting)

So yeah there it is, hope you’ll like it or / and possibly find it insightful… :-)

London powerhouse Slothboogie is gearing up to drop the fourth installment in their SBEDITZ series, this time with an EP of slammers from international man of mystery, Joe Cleen. This time around, the Berlin based producer has delivered four raw and ready cuts in various styles. We’ve got serious disco heat (one soaked in 80’s nightclub neon), a glorious piano jam laced with dubbed out gospel vocals, shuffling drum machine hats and a pimped out G-Funk synth, and ‘​The Fun Part​’, a bubblin’ bass funk groover filled with crisp percussion and jazzy Rhodes.

‘Give You All I Got’ is the perfect opening track for an amazingly cohesive project, a certified disco monster with infectious brass, erotic vocals and huge space toms reworked to launch any dancefloor into the stratosphere! Steadily swung percussion rides nicely in front of a fat bottomed bassline, while Joe takes us to church with a sensual vocal that glides smoothly over the instrumental. ‘Give You All I Got’ keeps the energy contained, and it moves through four minutes with a graceful swagger that’ll surely capture the attention of eager dancers. Honestly, I just watched the new Quincy Jones documentary on Netflix and this EP sounds like something he’d like. That’s saying a lot.

Slothboogie SBEDITZ004 will be available on October 26th, and you’d be wise to set an alert because the project is limited to 500 copies. This is a vinyl only release, so if you don’t spin records, now is the time to practice (it’s great fun, trust me). You’d be dumb not to have this one in your bag, so do your best to be one of 500.

Brooklyn based, DJ Monchan aka @dailysession, steps up to perform some surgical edit wizardy on four mouth-watering tracks for the ever-dependable Razor-N-Tape.

'Reaction Control' kicks things off with a joyous disco gem extending and echoing those killer groovers to create a whirlwind of dancefloor delight. Next up, 'Dance It All Out' has a touch of the exotic highlife sound to it but reworked into a DJ friendly irresistibly bouncing jam.

Flip it and it's back to the late-night NYC soirees of the 70's with 'Can't Promise' channelling that pure unadulterated fun into an ethereal edit of magnetic proportions. Taking the final slot of RNT042 'Get Down With Your Love' closes out proceedings with a sliky smooth soulful heater.

Berlin based label Jazz Cabbage - led by the illustrious Strip Steve - have been turning heads with their collection of wonky & groovy jazz-infused house tunes for the past year or so. Following previous releases from YGT, Daisuke Kondo and a recent family affair titled the Jazz Cabbage Grand Ball, label regular Joe Clean is back with his new EP, “Feeling Cute Dunno Might Delete Later”. Spanning three original cuts of sample heavy groovers and a great remix from wonky house specialist Glenn Astro himself, this is one smooth record.

Our pick of the bunch is the B1, aptly titled “We Need”. Right off the bat, Joe Cleen’s combination of slick filtering, bouncy toms, and crisp hats - all against the backdrop of one undeniably satisfying kick - get you in the mood to throw down. Soon joined by a piano sample with a tone that brings tears to your eyes and a delicate clap that’ll soothe your soul, “We Need” is a near-perfect warmup tune. Without question, this really is a track we need, and we’re pretty sure that you do to. Out on Nov 8th.

We can imagine this being the music to an underwater jazz & blues club where Joe and his band play every Saturday. The rhythm guitar and percussion dominate here, with lashings of low pass filter applied. Mr.Cleen only allows the track to come up for air with a beautiful horn section before diving back down into the swinging depths. OUT NOW!

Inspired by the sounds coming from Chicago's Dance Mania records and similar uptempo house from the late 90s. Hot Music is actually a New York anthem, also counted as a seminal track for London's Jazz Step, and just dares to be stepped to. I hope you enjoy the theatrics involved, and maybe a 'work or two.
