#DeLaSoulRemix25 2025 Remix from Robot Arms (feat. Chaka Khan)

Live drums, some live and chopped guitar, feedback and piano. I used De La Soul and Chaka Khan's vox and some of the funk guitar from their OG track. A lot of the elements you hear are Chaka Khan all manipulated.

My process was to NOT listen to the original mix. I just took their stems and made a mix I enjoyed listening to. Then I slowly replaced their drums and other elements with my own stuff. I played those drums to their original hi hat and the flows of the voices.

Shoutout to whoever played the bass on the original track. It killed me to not use it, but my remix didn't need it.

I couldn't sleep last night, so in the middle of the night i downloaded a crappy free drummachine on my iphone and made this. Listen to it in headphones and drift off. Very simple.

Unlike the sample I have lots of dreams. I recently found out my spirit animal is a silverback Gorilla based on some reaccuring imagery I have had in my dreams. That's all.

The Mechanics Of Dreams

I first put this beat together on the dr-770 in 2005. My friend J came over and heard it and started singing that melody so we recorded it in the room on a shitty handheld digital recorder. At some point in the future/past I brought the beat over to my MPC and added a bass line sans  the vox.

Then I forgot about it completley.

Yesterdayish I found both versions, so I combined them and added a little bit from my cellphone drum machine. So here it is.

I did this super raw MY NUTS cover while prepping for a colonoscopy. You can look up what that entails if you'd like. It kept me "relaxed" to bang this out.

Obviously in a perfect world it'd be a better quality and more finished recording, but what the fuck do you want me to do about it?

This was a beat I worked on for a while in 2011. I have some vocal samples I want to drop into "the hook", I want to clean it up a little more and give it a better outro. I also dig it "as is" and felt like dumping it online.
