Scenes Vol. 1

Notes/Poems/Dreams (from Gordon Crook, A Life of Art)

This piece was composed for a radio drama adaptation of Briar Grace-Smith's play 'Potiki's Memory of Stone'. Set in a small town in the South Island of New Zealand, the play explores the story of a sacred pounamu (greenstone) boulder and the consequences of desecrating ancient taonga (treasures).

Jeremy Cullen is a composer and sound designer from Wellington, New Zealand.

His recent work includes composing for “The Chronicles of the Hobbit” on the Extended Edition of “The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies”, editing the music of Nick Cave and Warren Ellis for the documentary “West of Memphis”, and music editing for composer Howard Shore’s score for “The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies”.

Other credits include original music for indie horror film “Blackspot” and the documentary “Gordon Crook, A Life of Art”, arranging songs by The Beatles for the Royal New Zealand Ballet, producing the debut album “Dig a Hole” for singer Leila Adu, and creating the score for the audiobook “The Priest, the Witch and the Poltergeist”.

Jeremy is a classically trained pianist and composer with an Honours degree in composition and electroacoustic music from Canterbury University. He has also performed as keyboard player and guitarist in Wellington bands Nouveau Riche and The Boomshack Band.
