You know them days when you working on a project while feeling like a rebel n shit and out of nowhere start a completely new track in the same session, while not giving a fuck about how you gonna find the shit when you forgot you made it there? Exactly. After making some tracks on a random day, I suddenly felt the urge to make some Trap. Not your regular tho, all out guns blazing DOMINICAN Trap. So I instantly connected Godwonder and Dari Caramelo to drop some vocals and since I already was recording Frikitona you know she had to jump on it as well! Shit was fucking fun as fuck to make and Merengue styled Trap was a fact. #daddyyankeebarkstillinfinity

You see this concept goes way back. Like waaaay back in them Crunk days. 'member that? #OKKAAYYYYAHHH. I found myself experimenting with Merengue and Bachata tracks, making all kinds of weird hybrids. Super fun, but it wasn't until the boss called Lex Luger came to destroy the game, that it got me so inspired that I was like - Yo, I NEED DOMINICAN TRAP RIGHT NOW. IN MY HEADPHONES. ASAP. So I got them concepts outta the oude doos and next thing you know I had a shitload of Dominican Trap. So I put some of them on this Diplo & Friends mix I did in 2012. Just the thought of straight up just playing some old ass Bachata record on BBC Radio had me smiling.

That said, I fucking had it with the same shit. You go to Holland - there is Trap. You go to Puerto Rico - there is Trap. You go to France - there is Trap. You go to Scandinavia - there is Trap. You go to motherfucking China - there is Trap too. I bet that if they find life on Mars them aliens already tatted up rocking them Sosa dreads with the lean cup and Gucci belt. Seriously tho - you cannot escape the Kill Bill drop. IT WILL HAUNT YOU. FOREVER.

Talking about that - I'm having difficulty getting this fucking track outta my head. This Duitenkornuiten "Hoofdletter K" track pops up every day or so, that includes the sudden urge to whisper:

"Bitch ik ben Tommy je kan me niet stoppen. Want ik loop met een hoofdletter K op me."

I don't know how the fuck it's still on my playlist, but I'm pretty sure that it ain't going away any time soon. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The 20 year old producer has being a contributing force to pushing Funky over the past 12 months both producing it and pushing it out through his own Label - Articulate Sound. Having also released on other reputable Labels with IYZ on the likes of More Time Records and In:flux Audio this has lead him to gain support support from the likes of Roska, Murder He Wrote, My Nu Leng, Distro, Killjoy, Marcus Nasty and loads more.

Regular appearances at Beastwang as well as playing for Tumble Audio in his home city of Nottingham, and further afield such as The Nest (London) this has given him a platform to carry on pushing the resurgence of Funky through his live sets in different areas of the country. Featuring on Rinse FM earlier this year he’s also appeared on Radar Radio & Reprezent to boost his presence both in the Midlands and beyond Ali McK is well on his way to being a household name in UK Funky.

The Suffolk based producer has gathered support from My Nu Leng, Skepsis, Distro, Marcus Nasty, Murder He Wrote, TC4 & loads more.

His track 'Contagion' taken from his debut EP ‘Feel Free’ was featured by Dummy Mag and reached #1 in the Juno Download Charts and also had a track featured in DJ Mag’s Top 10 by Sheffields ‘Where’s North?’ earlier this year. The 28 year old is now officially represented by Articulate Artists Agency setting him up nicely for his debut 1Forty Release with his Single ‘They Don’t Know’. A Funky flip on Wiley’s Colder.
