I have checked what copyright laws that I might be breaking by publishing this song but had no answers. Hopefully, Burt Bacharach and Hal David can cut me some slack rather than aggressively suing me: But, it was one of the songs I over-listened to on a K-tel compilation in the mid-seventies.

Once there was a beach (beaches can’t be copyrighted). I personalized said beach because both good and bad things had happened there. The last time I was there it was the bad thing. I never went back.

"When you die" is awkward because I wrote it and then someone I knew died in a fashion similar to that writ in the song. I felt like an asshole, but the song had already been born.

Never try to explain songs. It ruins it for everyone who thought it meant something else. They would be wrong, of course. You can bleed all this stuff out: but don’t go thinking that it means anything.
