It's the music from my first days in my radio career. Today, it reads like the way radio was: play the hits, introduce the songs, tell 'em what's the weather, dazzle them with surprise every four minutes.

Followed by: two weeks later, a slightly sloppier show, without full songs. But - you will hear two full "stopsets" featuring the likes of J. Diamond, Tia Lino, and Charlie Catron.

Demo track by singer & songwriter Gary Taylor who wrote and recorded it in 1985, for a planned second album on A&M, but eventually gave the song to Alfie Silas in '86, and then a year later to The Whispers, who had a big hit with their version. 

" I did this demo back in the early 80's as the start of what was to be a second album on A&M records... but they said the song wasn't a hit. My Brother's The Whispers thought differently, and said yes we want to record it... and we want you to produce it... the rest is history. 1.3 million + copies sold and it's easy to see why A&M records is no longer around... like Scotty and Walter told me..."This song is timeless"... what a Blessing".

Shoot out to Gary Taylor, born Los Angeles, California, an American singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer.

October 14, 1991: I don't have the very first talk I ever did on the radio just after 4 in the morning on the campus of Syracuse University...but I have the second one.  I'll always remember my first five songs:

- R.E.M. "Shiny Happy People"
- After 7 "Nights Like This"
- Mariah Carey "Emotions" (first song whose intro I talked over)
 ("Z89, the music mix is the difference, it's 4:08, I'm Governor D. Redman, with another 14-in-a-row hotstreak and more of the best hit music.  Here's Mariah Carey on Z89.")
- George Michael "Praying For Time"
- Amy Grant "That's What Love Is For" (NEW MUSIC)

And on and on.

This was the band's only chart single. Why this never made it to #1 is a total mystery.
