He began pacing the room as if a general addressing his men. "The creatures that have been terrorizing our fair town are preparing to begin their attack on mankind" a few in the crowd laughed but most stood transfixed, knowing what was happening here was something far greater than they could possibly comprehend. "For centuries they have been hiding amongst us, buying their time. Every single significant moment in human history has been of their influence. We have been guinea pigs to their global experiment and now the time has come. They will wipe us from the face of the earth and take our place as the dominant species of this planet." As I looked around and saw the faces of my fellow townsfolk  i saw what was undoubtedly imprinted on my face. A look of fear mixed with disbelief, mixed with the panic of an impending doom. "I know this is hard for all of you to hear, and I know most of you don't believe me, but I will tell you that if we even have a hope for surviving what is yet to come, we must be ready. The sky this morning was a warning that the beast are gathering. For a final confrontation, we must also be ready". A man in the crowd started saying that abandoning the town was the only hope. But the old man quickly intervened. "To abandon now would only be to prolong the inevitable. As you have seen our lines of communication and transportation have been cut and its thirty miles to the next town. If we leave on foot we will surely be slaughtered, as it is almost sundown, our greatest challenge is still yet amongst us. If we are to survive to see the sun rise again we must prepare".
