Resistance is Fertile was recorded using layered first take performances. All tracks
were recorded to “dance music” tempo markings (between 120-172 beats per minute, or BPM)
beginning with voice memo beatboxes, layered on top by drums, synths and finally horns. These
multitracked improvisations were then edited and mixed into the compositions heard on the
album.

JMMR is built for guests, and the album features blinding improvisational contributions from
reedmen to the stars Stuart Bogie and Cochemea Gastelum, and global sensations Morgan Price
and Ricardo Quinones.

The 3rd Generation band was formed in the late 70's led by ‘Rockson’, who was a soldier at the time. The band recorded only six tracks, all for Essiebons, including the two featured here – 'Because of Money' and 'Obi Ye Saa Wui'.

Our man Gary Johnson bought a 7” from a dealer in New York on digging trip some years ago. He knew ‘Because of Money’, and was delighted to find that the B side was just as strong. 

‘Because of Money’ was originally released on Essiebons ‎– EB 398 7” and was featured on Soundway’s excellent ‘Ghana Soundz’ compilation. The record is extremely rare – yet to make an appearance on either Discogs or even Popsike.

DJ JEANNIE HOPPER created Liquid Sound Lounge, est. 1993, to support the community of soulful based independent arts and culture, broadcasting Saturday's 7-10pm EST, WBAI 99.5fm 1993-2018+streaming real time.  (LSL in addition is the name of her all vinyl record label).  LSL annual boat cruises have been rockin' the waterways since 1999 along with on-going community building super dance parties connecting socially conscious party people with a purpose including at Brooklyn Academy of Music's BAMcafe Live series, Cooper-Hewitt, PS1 Warm Up, +more.  Internationally Hopper's been on a musical ride rocking dance floors in over 20 countries.
