Pinerolo is a restaurant in Oslo. I was commissioned by the owners to compile and mix three mixtapes. Their directives were rather vague, lending me an opportunity to pick from any genre, not care too much about how commercial the tracks were and just create an eclectic but cohesive compilation that would contribute to the relaxed vibe at Pinerolo. This is what I did.

The first of many Ranch series sets comes from a dear friend of the ranch, Belgium born, Berlin Based, Sander Markey.  Ranch head ganders asked Sander to present an extended 12 hour set to the Ranch community, a fusion between his 2 alias Johnny Lee Johnson (Soul-Jazz-Hop Hop) and Slick Marcel Rick (Disco to Funk). Burning 2017 ... well, you know how to blow my mind. It was my second burn and i enjoyed it every seconds, it was again more better than the first one. 
It was an unique and amazing experience that you struggle to describe. Video, music, pictures, words or any story can only telling a little piece of all the magic...
I had the chance of playing  to some amazing camps. Big Big love for them: my Dusty Beavers, Midnight Poutine, Funky Town, Arno's Flying Fryer, Kentuky Fried Camp and Things that swing. 
Thanks a lot for having me. It was just magic!
Unfortunately, I could not record any of the sessions that I played. You know the dust, the machine and the human, everything get a bit messy and dusty … In the meantime, I feel the need to put together a selection of tunes that best described my feelings about my burn : 
Love, Freedom, Mystic, Hope, Vision, Fantasy and Rebirth. 
Radical Ritual was  the thematic of the year, so you can heard that it inspires me a lot in the process of this mixtape. I want to send my love and my huge respect to all the great producers and labels all around the world for making their amazing music... Close your eyes, feel the vibe and enjoy the journey!

Die Revolution wird nicht im TV übertragen, behauptete einst Gil Scott-Heron. Und, Oh Boy, er konnte 1970 nicht wissen, dass das Internet alles auf den Kopf stellen wird. 2019 ist quasi überall Revolution- auf allen Kanälen und zu jeder Uhrzeit. Es gibt zum Thema Soundtracks und Filme, Blogs und Magazine und jede Menge Musik aus zig Jahrzehnten Popkultur, die sich mit dem Thema Rebellion und Revolution auseinandersetzen. Alex Barck von Jazzanova hat sich diesem Thema im vorliegenden Mix ausführlich gewidmet- und zeigt damit, dass er ein musikalischer “Hans Dampf in allen Gassen” ist. Wir wollen nicht zu viel verraten, vorab nur dies: Was für ein Tape!

Telecast - #021 - Telecasting to the cosmos!
As we sit at home, we find ourselves anew and see things in a new light. So did I. Inspired by numerous sets out there, I’ve been going into my own musical history to find forgotten gems of my youth (Mark Knopfler & Pete Philly & Perquisite), new artists I fell in love with (J.J. Cale & Kevin Morby), timeless classics (Nina Simone & George Harrison), and music with Dutch lyrics (Spinvis & Wim de Craene).

This special Telecast stems from a desire to listen to and work with different music. The music I normally listen to just isn’t cutting it at the moment and is propelling me to shake things up a little. My desire to listen to something that gives comfort and is emotionally uplifting to help me through times of distress is what brought this mix to light. 

This Telecast is filled with music that invokes memories from my past. From the time I set sail every weekend with my best friend from high school, the time when I was singing of the top of my lungs while driving around artists for a festival, the time when I felt pure happiness just walking around a train station listening to music on my way to meet friends, a time when I found out that the group of people I hung out with weren’t who I thought they were, a time when I rode back to Portugal and didn’t get further than Ghent, a time when I had no idea who I was and found solace in music, a time when I found big emotions within me through music with Dutch lyrics, a time when… well, you get the gist.

It’s been emotional, it’s been beautiful and although I could keep working on this Telecast and endlessly tweak it, it’s now time to release it and share this with you. I hope you’ll find comfort when listening and realise that even though these times are though, they also shine new light on you and offer you a chance to change things around for the better. And, hopefully, in doing so, when things do go back to normal again you’ll find yourself stronger than ever.
