Machines only live excursion into the abyss. The melody was something i was working in and out of my sets during this time. And eventually worked out a song for it to inhabit. It became more than transitionary tool when FBK (frictional records) helped me realize that i tend make things more complicated then they need to be musically.  Scale back and and let the groove ride.

this recording was made during the last month of our residency at the screw factory a derilict warehouse space in the suburbs of columbus ohio. For 16 months we put on midwest fresh as well as smaller more private performances. this was the latter. i used a tr8, novation circuit,volca beats &kick,PO-14, MONOTRON, KAOS PAD 2&3, XONE DB2 MIXER & ALESIS MULTIMIX8. some of the DRUM SAmples made at the warehouse and played with the circuit.

melancholy yet warm sounds punctuated by mutant steel drums. pulsing devious bass lines slither between junkyard hi hats & 808 toms. phantom chords appear mid air and dissipate into the ether. ghost flutes whispering dark nothings into the ear. vocal samples almost warning us about it's hypnotic nature.
