80年代から今日まで、ノイズ～ドローンを深く深く追求してきた巨星Andrew Chalk。Meditationsレーベルの1作目として出版します!

物音とも弦の加工とも取れる柔らかな反復で幕を開けるのは、A面のBright Rivers Run。歓喜を迎える鳥が飛び、空へと向かう電子音は幾重もの輝きを魅せ、駆け抜けてその反復は留まる事無く駆け抜けます。近年若い世代が魅了される新しいニューエイジの形とも通じ、これまでの氏のイメージから大きく解放される姿がそのまま音に。曲が終わる頃には宇宙にぽつんと佇んでいる儚さがあります。そして盤を裏返せば次の波、Shimmer In The Sun。2分30秒の短いひとときですが、宇宙から現実の世界へ、浮上してはまた内へ向かいながら、薄れていく輝きを何処までも追っていたくなります。氏の内面世界が新鮮な道筋を辿って現れました。

Andrew Chalk
1985年にFerial Confine名義で音楽活動を開始。80年代はソロ作品の他、Cornelius CardewのScratch Orchestra (Brian Eno, Michael Nyman, etc) に参加していたDavid JackmanとOrganumの作品の制作、Broken Flagレーベルのコンピレーション「Never Say When」への参加等、現在のノイズ/インダストリアル・ミュージックの礎となるアンダーグラウンドシーンで活動。90年代に入ってからはThe New Blockadersの作品への参加等、アーティスティックなノイズ/インダストリアルシーンで活動を続ける傍ら、Darren Tateと結成したOraやChristoph Heemannと結成したMirrorでの活動を開始。特にMirrorにおいては自身の描く絵画を配したアートワークにパッケージングされた深遠なサウンドがカルト的な支持を得、ドローンという音楽を確固たる存在に押し上げる。2005年にはMirrorを解散し、同時に自身のレーベルFaraway Pressを立ち上げる。以降、現在に至るまで様々なアーティストとのコラボレーションを通じて数多くの作品を発表している。まるで絵画を描くように紡がれるサウンド、アーティスト自身によってハンドメイドで制作されるアートワークは芸術作品そのもの。本作がリリースされる2014年には30年近いキャリアを誇る、最高峰の実力を持ったアーティスト。
