Composed in 1991, The Woman Who Danced is a study in slow moving chords. Its seven episodes are constructed in mirror-like fashion, in that the opening episode with hands together is loosely recapitulated in the seventh and final episode. Episodes two and six encompass alternating chords between the hands, episodes three and five feature repeated motives, and the central fourth section in based on a melody used by Northeast Brazilian Cordel poets.
