The loss of my musical brother Chuck Morris and his son Charley has been absolutely heartbreaking. We spent over two decades traveling the world together playing music. I was there when Chuck and Jenny brought the newly-born Charley home from the hospital. Chuck was probably the most unique person I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. He always did things in his own one-of-a-kind way. I'm processing this enormous loss in the only way I know how, by making music. This mix reflects some of the tip of the iceberg that was Chuck's joyous personality - smooth, quirky, driving, enigmatic, beautiful.

This set had the dance floor pumpin'. Knees were weak. Clothes were stripped. Butts were bouncing. We even made the news!

Super grateful for another opportunity to play at The Closet again this year, thanks for having me! To all those who got down and groovy, thanks for bringing the energy. Epic to play with and for you, besitos xx

Never Stop Dancing is a mix series dedicated to all those who find themselves locked in the groove, time and time again. To those who find themselves eyes closed, lost in the music. To those who say "one more song" more than once. To those who live for the collective joy, community, and boundless self-expression of the dance floor. To those who never stop dancing. This mix series is focused on amplifying the sounds of DJs and producers in the Kootenays and British Columbia who honour the rich tradition of house, disco, and techno in their sets.

Old Ben has a keen sense for tasteful, soulful, beats that get a dance floor moving. What's more, he's a stand up guy with a heart of gold. Old Ben is the best man you want by your side at your wedding, the dude who will build a stage for your music festival, the cousin who will buy you a $600 laser. He's always up for a good time and for a boogie with the time is right, and can always be counted on to get the dance floor moving. This set of his is a true testament to Old Ben's ability to find and meld rare, slow, and sensuous house music into a cohesive story. I am honoured that Old Ben spent the time to put it together for me, and I'm so excited to share it with you. 

Old Ben Bio: At the turn of the century the Kootenay rave scene was starting to pop off, and this geezer was there for it. He quickly fell in love with the music and culture. The art of partying and the art of throwing a good party. Most of all, the joy of finding new music and sharing it. Over the years new sounds emerged, genres rising and falling, and through it all he developed a keen ear for music that stands the test of time and speaks to the heart. Old Ben sets are soulful and discerning, serving up beats with the smooth sophistication of a fine wine.

RECOVER is the first chapter of a re-edit compilations serie we are starting at Partyfine. Most of us are dj's and keep on editing rare songs, classics or whatever to fit dj sets, so I asked members of the family, and friends, to send me something they are proud of and they've never released before. 
16 tracks, a big line-up and a wide diversity of genres from ethno-electro (Polocorp, Youkounkoun, Rubin Steiner), brasilian songs (Fatnotronic and Jean Tonique), cinematic & pop songs (Plaisir de France, Polo & Pan, V4YS), disco/funk classics (Yuksek, Claap & Santana, House Husband, Jean Tonique), French classic (Getaroom) or 90’s (Mo laudi).

You may know some of the original songs, some not, Shazam will not gonna be of any help for most of them.

There’s no limit to the number of lives you can live in music. Jedsa Soundorom knows this more than most – from his early love affair with hip hop to his wild ride through the 90s house scene, the Paris-based DJ and producer has sampled more sides of the music game than most. He first saw the light at parties in London before holding down a high-level residency at Les Bains in Paris, only to end up spinning records in the rush of New York’s house circuit at The Limelight, Cielo, Pacha and more. After the intensity of the Big Apple, time spent as a DJ in Costa Rica with the sand under his feet was the perfect antidote, indulging his musical obsession in a pressure-free environment. 

With his well-travelled soul loaded with experiences from across the globe, his interests have naturally drifted towards production as another means of self-expression. While he had already been immersing himself in the craft of making his own music, pivotal sessions with close friends Hector Moralez and Jef K pushed his technique and vision even further. With the in-demand Jack Is High 12” on Zingiber Audio and releases and remixes for Deeplomatic, Soleil de Nuit and Viva Music already in circulation, Jedsa’s inventive, playful approach to house music continues to infect the contemporary scene. 

Whether on the decks or on record, Jedsa’s Caribbean roots, his years of experience and relentless energy fuse to make for a thrilling and refreshingly honest artist unbound by formula and always striving for the feeling between the groove.
