This is a cover of "Blue Skies" by The Choir. The original song appeared on the 1990 album Circle Slide. The instruments and vocals were performed by Jeff Elbel, and recorded by Jeff at the Happy Club in Wheaton, IL. "Blue Skies" was mixed and mastered by Matt McCabe at Finley Sound in Loomis, CA. 

The song was recorded during an evaluation of Apogee Electronics' Quartet interface for Tape Op magazine. For this version, all signals went directly to the Quartet's preamps, with no outboard EQ or compression on the way in. 

For the shootout, each part of the song was recorded back-to-back on both platforms. i.e., I began by recording the drums through the Quartet in one LogicPro session, then switched interfaces and recorded drums through my MOTU 828 mkII (Black Lion Audio mod) into another LogicPro session. I then recorded the bass track, guitar track, and so on, until I had two parallel sessions of the same song with the same arrangement. All tracking was done within one session. Tempo is 68.6 bpm. Resolution is 48 KHz, 24 bit.

Instruments: voice, 16" floor tom, HHX splash cymbal, tamborine, Pork Pie snare (snares off), wicker basket shaker, sand shaker, 1986 Gibson J-30 acoustic guitar, NS Design CR4M fretless bass, Hammond M3 organ, Deagan concert bells
