Ballet: Scene 2: In the Marketplace

Here's a track from a reading session that was put together this past summer.  It's with a student orchestra (and with smaller numbers), so please excuse the mistakes.  The piece is the first in my song cycle "Canciones de Exilio".  This was the first time I'd ever heard it played by anything other than my computer!

Here is the first song from my cycle "Epitaphs" for baritone & piano.  Even though epitaphs are "last words" inscribed on gravestones, no one says that they all have to be dark and sad.

Ballet: Scene 7: Cold And Alone

Here's the first song from my Spanish cycle "Canciones de Exilio".  This is the mezzo version.  There's also a version for soprano (which has been orchestrated).

Here's Scene 7 (actually scene 8 - they've been renumbered) of my ballet score.  Finally!  This was a difficult one to write, since I couldn't quite get what I wanted out of the music.  I think the final version works.  Anyway, as always, I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Ballet: Scene 9: Second Match: What Might Have Been

And here's the final scene from my ballet "The Little Matchgirl."  this one took a while because I had to get it "just right."  In this scene, the little girl has lit her last match and is slowly freezing to death.  Then her grandmother (who died several scenes before) appears to take her back with her.  I hope you like it.  I'd love to hear your comments!

This is the sixth song from my cycle "Tableaux Eternels" performed by soprano Leslie Fagan and pianist Lorin Shalanko.  The cycle was recently released on the album "Thread of Winter" (http://www.canadianartsong.com/) and can be purchased at cdbaby and iTunes.

Caprice

I'm a Canadian composer who's interested in writing just about anything!  I started writing when I was eight, and am still going strong (well, I'm trying at least!).  A few of my pieces have been performed internationally, and several have been recorded, but I'm always hoping for more.  I'd love to hear from you!  Thanks for listening!
