Cover often performed in various bands, with Jeffy G lead vocals.  I started using beats and samples in 2008 and thought it would be fun to modernize Broadway Melody.  Sure enough, I got to grooving along on my $99 bass, added some keys and brass, requested my friend Lucas squeeze out some lead guitar parts. Voila ☺️

Funky Broadway (ft. L.Crossley)

Simple repeating beat defines the passage of time, filled with audio FX along the way, but not significant enough to drive a melodic chord progression.  Kinda like following a unguided path in life with moments of joy, disappointment and love, but not making any adjustments to your life path along the way.

Memory Girl released on Fortress Sounds via AWAL 5th April 2022. 

This anthemic single serves as the album's title track and was written after a hugely successful call-out campaign for her fan's memories & nostalgia to use as inspiration for the song.  

This creates a beautiful contrast to the album which was written about Natalie's childhood & adulthood experiences.

“I’m always looking for ways to challenge myself as an artist and songwriter. Sometimes that curveball move which puts you outside of your comfort zone leads to an amazing discovery, and I love experiencing that. 

Because Memory Girl (the album) is so rooted in my own story and memories, I wanted to ask my fans for theirs - for inspiration, for something more that felt exciting and inclusive. 

What I received from them was above and beyond my initial expectation, I was truly in awe of some of them. The one that resonated with me the most was a man’s story about growing up with his twin sister, growing apart, growing together again through life. 

I really connected with it because it made me think of my own family, parents, grandparents - how they were when they were young and travelling through life in their own stories, growing up. It also felt like a continuation of the album - which has themes of mirroring, and twin imagery.  I was so connected to it that when I came to write the song it made me very emotional.

There is real weight attached to creating work around someone else’s story, and I wanted to celebrate and respect that. I’m really proud of the song and production.”
