The late Jimmy Dowd would often call in to the Still House on a Monday night after his Cauldron gig with the Rogues and play a few songs to give me a break from my own gig.  One night he played a song he had written years earlier and I asked him for it, so he wrote out the lyrics and told me I could record it whenever I got the chance. That chance came last Wednesday night when John McNamara from the Rogues and myself recorded it in Open Door Studios.  While listening to the final cut of the song, Jimmy rang John from Milford and John put him on speaker to hear his song.  We got a thumbs up.  A day later he passed away.  As you will hear, John’s whistle playing on Jimmy’s song is a beautiful tribute to the wonderful musician and gentleman Jimmy was.
