This album was entirely improvised in one take. I played classical and flamenco guitar in restaurants and other gigs for years - often for 3 hours at a time - and gradually dispensed with sheet music and set pieces in favor of just letting the music pour out of me the way it wanted to.

I often played at Sabor y Cultura, a coffee house in LA in the early 2000s - see the link below. The best nights musically were often those with the least number of patrons, because I could set a mood without fighting sonically with a loud reverberating room. This tango (no relation to the Argentine tango but the name) is in 4/4 time unlike much flamenco which is in hemiola, alternating measures of 3/4 and 6/8time. This style features lots of golpes - taps with the right hand ring finger - and rasgueados - the unique flamenco strums that are either short or long and always stop abruptly on a powerful beat. https://www.yelp.com/biz/sabor-y-cultura-los-angeles
