There’s a pitch black cell tonight where a political  prisoner lies forgotten, bloodied and broken, in agony, his only consolation, the candle of enlightenment in his mind, the idea a place like America exists. I imagine talking to  him, having to tell him how we are readily, handily squandering this moment in history, this moment in the sun, and him having to tell me how breathtakingly beautiful the idea of America is, and imploring please, don’t let it die.

Soundtrack from the movie Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence (戦場のメリークリスマス), a.k.a. Furyo in Europe, directed by Nagisa Oshima, and starring David Bowie, Tom Conti, Ryuichi Sakamoto and Takeshi Kitano.

The instrument is a Kawai VPC1 controlling a Clavia Nord Stage 2, using a sampled Yamaha C7 grand piano, and... straight from the 80's a sampled preset named "Touch Perco" from the Yamaha DX7 mk2 synth.
