Returning to Great Stuff after his huge Inside Me on Great Stuff Grooves 6 earlier this year, Italian talent Ruben Mandolini brings another banger to the label in Automatic. Having also appeared on Toolroom, Defected and Riva Starr&#8217;s Snatch! in 2013, he&#8217;s on serious form.

Automatic centres around a turgid, hard-jacking beast of a slinky techno groove, with punchy, heavily swung beats thumping away around atonal womps of sub bass. It barely needs anything more to make it an irresistible proposition, but Mandolini&#8217;s chopped and screwed vocals, epic pads and breakbeats in the breakdowns and warped pitch-bending synths take this to another level entirely. Seductive, dirty and cool, it&#8217;s everything you could want from a cutting-edge tech romper.

Piemont are left with a formidable task on the remix - but hey, this is Piemont we&#8217;re talking about. Throwing a load of metallic percussion, a rugged bassline and much FX trickery into their kit bag, they set off on a mission to pump the track up into something with a more atmospheric, hypnotic and haunting feel - and succeed in very impressive fashion.

He then started mixing and making beats for local rappers under the pseudonym DJ Ryder. At age 14 he decided to change his name to Hamdi RydEr and start producing house and techno. Seems Bristol may not be the only bass-built UK City to spawn true dirtybird talent. Midway up the little island the city of Birmingham is boiling its bins and splitting its subs with the sounds of Hannah Wants and Chris Lorenzo. Hannah & Chris kicked off their year with the mighty 'Dappy', a crew favourite from Food recordings. Hannah has been red hot on tour throughout the UK and Chris is finally stepping out of the shadows of being a ghost writer for over 6 years, now working on several projects including Cause & Effect, collabs with Pete Graham and countless other productions. 

  "Kneadin" has provoked more reaction than almost any other track in the sets of dirtybird this summer hitting a pinnacle at Hideout festival in Croatia when it was played 5 times in one day (over two events) by Justin Martin, VonStroke & Eats Everything!   

Another first for dirtybird sees us looking to Russia for our remixer and a seasoned producer who never fails to impress with his blend of raw, jackin' house. Tripmastaz replaces the break beats of the original with his jack-hammer 4/4's, but its his patient stretching and remoulding of the bassline that really impresses.
