African Shakedown is back! 
After Ata Kak made so many new friends around the globe, we take you on another journey into the irresistible world of African rhythms and grooves.

The A-side starts with "O Ye", a groovy Afro-Disco floor-filler by Canada's one and only Eddie C. Its compelling groove and call-and-response vocals will surely heat up every dancefloor from here to Accra! 

This is closely followed by Berlin based producer Noema. Known for his highly acclaimed hit-edit of Ata Kak's "Daa Nyinaa", he takes you on a psychedelic trip, by melting the traditional sounds and voices of Burundi into a swinging House groove.

The flip side shines with two heavy hitters aswell: One third of Stockholm’s infamous Studio Barnhaus crew, Axel Boman is the man behind the re-rub of "Bayaya", which has already garnered mass approval by screaming dancers all over the world during his outstanding dj sets. 

To round off our trip, the Disco aficionados from Soft Rocks re-constructed "Disco Machine", a cuba infected Afro-Disco-Soul stomper nobody will be able to resist.

I am really happy & honoured to announce the officially licensed release of this rare disco / modern soul gem from 1980. Here is my small story about this : I have been introduced to this record a few years back by DJ Klas. On the very first listen, it made me crazy & I went on an intensive & long quest to get myself a copy of the 45. It then became a kind of classics of my DJ sets, the record always being in my bag. It is definitely a sure shot for the dancefloor ! 

I then got in touch with the artist Lamar Thomas, first to try to get a spare copy, but after a few conversations on the web, I told myself it would be nice to give this rare & excellent record a new release. Pascal Rioux & Favorite Recordings finally agreed on the idea, and here it is. 

Very happy & honoured to have contributed to this nice release. Big thanks to Josh Goldman aka DJ Klas, Roger Thornill (for providing the original sleeve art) & to Favorite Recordings for believing in this project!

Excited to collaborate with Paul Goodyear on this special mix of the Denise Lasalle classic "P.A.R.T.Y." A cult favorite on San Francisco and New York dance floors AND in the bathhouses!!!. Never released as a twelve inch this fabulous track was only ever available on her LP "Under the influence" from 1978
Paul and I have made this song finally workable in a very DJ friendly mix! Not to mention we have added some additional production to enhance the track even further. Enjoy!

The Swindlers return and not a minute too soon as far as we’re
concerned!  The hardest working duo in house music have had a
mental couple of years playing every club and festival known to
man, having babies, seemingly buying up the entire stock of vintage
studio gear off ebay and thankfully knocking out some banging tunes
on top of all that.  Well all club bangers gratefully received here
at Freerange so with open arms and ears we’re happy to be bringing
you the Figure Of Speech EP.
Just as the non-believers think they know what to expect from these two they’ve thrown a rather large curveball and headed down a different road. Figure Of Speech wears some African influences on its sleeve with a bumping party groove punctuated by some nifty
afro beat keys stabs and just a hint of acid. Victoria’s Secret
treads more familiar Detroit Swindle territory with the boys trademark shuffling beats and larger-than-life side-chained pads bringing the drama. Finally, we have suitably titled Live At The Cosmic Carnival where we’re treated to some peaktime tribal business with rolling bass, dubbed out dancehall science and some nifty conga work. All in all, some fiyah for the dancefloor from a pair of lads who know a thing or two about how to get a room jumping.

Fresh from the success of the Guilty Pleasures EP by Satin Jackets & Ejeca, next up from the ever growing House of Disco Records is Finnebassen's - ’Baby’ EP. Boasting make overs from Monitor 66, Ron Basejam and Debonair along with the original track itself, this is a vinyl with credentials that speak for themselves. 

The EP opens with the original track 'Baby' from the Norwegian born producer Finnebassen. With previous releases titled ’Babies’ ’Footsteps’ and ’Bleedin out’ I'm starting to wonder if there's some sort of subliminal message at work. However with the rate at which he's been outputting releases lately there are no signs that he has anything other than more music on the way. ’Baby’ is not what we have become accustomed to expecting from Finnebassen, it strays away from his usual deep poignant echoing house tracks. Instead it's a rich funk filled gem of a track that he's shown he is capable of through his ’silly pilly edit’ of It's gonna take a long time. With bluesy lead guitar riffs and his trademark bass line it's the perfect soundtrack for a blossoming summer season.

The first remix of the EP comes from Swedish trio Monitor 66 who produce under the ethos of creating ’'music for sunsets.’ The track certainly embodies that motif as gorgeous saxophone licks and chiming synths over a shifting bassline give it a deep tropical feel. Next up is the remix from James Baron, or as the anagram works and we know him as, Ron Basejam. His remix is more of a straight up boogie house track letting the echoing vocals do a lot of the work whilst being complimented by sprinkles of playful keys. The sliced vocals work a treat and he manages to maintain the tracks strong groove throughout. The final remix of the EP comes from London based artist Debonair who strips down the track into a deep atmospheric affair making it the perfect weapon of choice for an after hour set. Ominous kicks and the spades of tension and atmosphere will make sure that fists are pumping well into the early hours of the morning.
