‘Hail Mary’.

Based on the concept of the ‘Hail Mary throw’ in both American Gridiron & Basketball - It’s that play usually made right before the buzzer… when the person making the throw isn’t holding out much hope, but they just go for it anyways for the love of the game. 

That’s what ‘Hail Mary’ is about. Reaching a point in your life where risking failure is a much better option than just playing it safe…having the nerve, grit and gumption to just go for it!
It’s a fierce, but humble, and overwhelmingly positive spirit.

The latest work by the Queensland Music Award winning songwriter, Jen Mize, is a laid back, swaggering dedication to the concept of carpe diem.
‘My Buzz’ is the first single off an upcoming solo ep, which has been self-produced by Mize and mixed by Jen and her long-time engineer, Jason Millhouse.
Although a solo departure- fans of Jen’s 8-piece band ‘The Rough N’ Tumble’ need not worry, as they have been busy writing and were just in the studio working on their 2nd record (to be released in early 2025) last week.
Jen wrote ‘My Buzz’ as a letter to herself… a gentle reminder that trying to embody the notion of doing no harm, spreading as much joy & sunshine as possible and wanting the best for your fellow man is actually some of the best medicine for the self. 

I was at a party, having a few chats and unfortunately reminded myself of that SNL sketch character ‘Debbie Downer’. I was in the middle of a conversation, taking a seriously bleak look on the world and realised what a buzzkill I was being… I was embarrassed, and took note later to write this song to myself as a reminder to be a little less like ‘Debbie Downer’ and ‘Chicken Little’ running around saying the sky is falling when it really isn’t’ says Mize. 
‘My Buzz’ is about the power of perspective…the type of ‘Don’t Bring Me Down’ kind of message that the world could use a little more of at the moment!’ says Mize
