Requiem For a Dream (Tower) - SOLO PIANO

Believe it or not the underlying piano part from this composition came to me by way of practicing parts of the Rachmaninoff 2nd Piano Concerto. Trust me, you won't hear it unless I describe specifics, but it's there.  The rest...well. let's just say I combined a plethora of ethnic instruments from Australia, the Middle East, Japan, and then over the top like caramel on ice cream there is the beautiful voice of Felicia Farerre. Music Reel

I recently recorded the Ensign Symphonic Chorus at the prestigious Bastyr Cathedral/Chapel in Seattle.  The acoustics are so astounding I just wanted to share a clip of the choir for my original song "Alleluia" which will be featured in my upcoming 2015 Christmas Album "Winter Symphony".  This is JUST the choir track with no additional reverb added, no mastering, just straight from the mics.

I've had the solo piano version of this up on my page for a while, and had started orchestrating it (this rough demo), but haven't finished yet.  I need some killer dubstep skills.  Anyone?

I Wanna Hold Your Hand (The Beatles) - Solo Piano

I don't share sneak peeks very often too early, but I had to share this with you today.  This is a clip of the Theme from Home Alone that I arranged for piano, and the orchestration was done by Glen Gabriel.  Most of you are familiar with this music, but what you don't know is how INCREDIBLY difficult John William's music is.  I wrote the arrangement by ear after listening to the recording on repeat, sometimes in 1 measure increments trying to decipher the notes.  And Glen....Glen.  His orchestration on this is pure genius.  Not many people attempt to re-orchestrate John Williams music because he is considered a genius in his field, not to mention that it's almost impossible to replicate.  I think Glen not only did an outstanding job recreating what John Williams did, but also putting his own personal spin on it.  I think he did a credit to Mr. Williams and if he ever hears this rendition, I would hope he would like it.

P.S. This is a ROUGH track, meaning it is 1) not mixed, 2) not mastered, 3) piano levels are low, and 4) the real strings have not been added yet, just the digital.  Enjoy!

Sneak Peek (From "Winter Symphony") - "Theme From Home Alone"

The title track on Jennifer's new album, Winter Symphony.  This is an original composition written by Jennifer, inspired by "Winter" from Vivaldi's Four Seasons. You will also hear a little bit of "Carol of the Bells" in this track, all combined with her signature epic orchestral sound.  

Winter Symphony recently won "Album of the year 2015" in music critic Michael Debbages's "Top 20 of 2015". The album has also stayed consistently in the top 20 on Amazon's Hot New Releases charts for 6 weeks in a row since releasing Nov 20th, 2015. I Saw Three Ships

Some of you have been wondering about the film I'm scoring - so here is a VERY VERY rough mix of a cue I have been working on.  Keep in mind no mixing, no mastering, and a little rough.  This short film is a Western drama called "Desert Rose" about a woman who's husband gets shot and killed by a random stranger, and she decides to revenge his death.  This cue in particular is deciding she is going to find the killer, and she begins her journey through the desert.

Carol of the Bells - SOLO PIANO VERSION

I've spent a couple of hours this morning preparing my orchestral backup tracks to perform with for this weekend's concert, and hearing all of the backings without piano brings back so many memories of each detail, percussion, violin, synth, instrument etc that was placed in each song.  SO so many hours of hard work.  

Here is a quick little mash-up of 3 of my top songs - "Illumination", "Requiem For a Dream", and "Etude For a Dream".  I don't share or sell my back-ups ever (they are my babies), but thought I'd share these brief glimpses of all the hard work that goes behind the piano. :)

I'm releasing a 10 year anniversary edition where I've re-recorded, re-orchestrated, re-mixed, and re-mastered 4 of the songs as bonus tracks.  I also redid all of the artwork.

This is my arrangement of Bach's "Toccata and Fugue" (BWV 565).  This piece is originally written for organ and has been traditionally enjoyed around Halloween because of the powerful minor keyed eeriness.

Jennifer Thomas is an American pianist, violinist, composer, performing artist, and recording artist. She was classically trained at Brigham Young University-Idaho, and started composing in 2003, later releasing her first debut album in 2007. Thomas has issued four albums, the latest 'Winter Symphony' released in November 2015.

Thomas is known for writing and performing piano-centered orchestral music from classical music to classical music crossover and cinematic orchestral. While most of her works are original, she also covers classical pieces as well as pop music and movie soundtracks. Thomas has also composed film scores, where she won the Gold Medal of Excellence in the 2011 Park City Film Music Festival for "Music in a Short Film" as well as a 2012 Hollywood Music in Media Award for "Best Film Score for Documentary/Short".

In 2012 Thomas was named Classical Crossover UK's "Female Artist of the Year".

Thomas' third album, "Illumination" won "Album of the Year" and "Artist of the Year" at the 2013 IMC Awards.
