For Jennifer Hart, country music has always been personal. "My parents filled the house with '90s country songs when I was young," she remembers. "My dad would sing 'The Dance' by Garth Brooks to my sister and me every night before bed. We all loved that kind of music. It's the way we bonded."

1992, her debut release, introduces a country songwriter whose music mixes the classic twang of her '90s influences with modern moves. Stocked with honest, autobiographical songs about Hart's roots, struggles, and successes, 1992 isn't just a showcase for the elastic vocals and heartland hooks that have already turned her song "Half the Man" into a viral hit. "My love for music always outweighed the fear," she says. "I pushed myself to be scared and uncomfortable and anxious. Later, as I began singing my own songs, music helped me make sense of my own emotions. It's always been therapy for me."
