eSTRANGEd couSINs is a project shaped by family, distance, and loss. Daniel grew up barely knowing his cousins Timmy and Kenny after his father left early in his life. While Daniel served in the military, Timmy and Kenny kept making music, and years passed without real contact.

After learning his father had died, Daniel reached out to Timmy. Their first deep conversation brought another heartbreak: Kenny had been killed in a motorcycle accident, and Timmy survived with serious injuries that stayed with him.

When they finally reunited, Timmy arrived with a thick notebook full of poems and songs written for his brother. The two walked to a dark boardwalk in the woods and played—Daniel on guitar, Timmy choosing pages by memory. Daniel recorded everything on his phone. The sound was raw and unpolished, but full of truth. Songs like “Let It Go,” “No Regrets,” “Wheels of Fate,” “Walk Upon Your Grave,” “Without You,” and “The Master of Pain” carried Timmy’s grief, love, and struggle to live with Kenny’s absence.

They spent years dreaming of creating more together. Daniel even wrote a full heavy album, hoping for another chapter. But that future changed when Daniel received the call that Timmy had passed away.

Though Timmy and Kenny are gone, their couSIN Daniel is still here, and the family line continues. eSTRANGEd couSINs now lives on as a dedication: a way to preserve Timmy’s voice, poetry, and spirit, and to let the world hear the heart behind their story.

eSTRANGEd couSINs was born out of blood ties, long silences, and the kind of losses that change the shape of a life. The band’s name is literal: Daniel grew up barely knowing his cousins Timmy and Kenny. Their fathers were brothers, but when Daniel’s father left during his childhood, a whole side of his family slipped out of reach. Years passed. Daniel joined the military. Timmy and Kenny kept making music. And the cousins who once jammed as teenagers drifted into separate worlds.

Decades later, the phone rang. Daniel’s mother told him she believed his father had died. After finding the obituary and confirming the truth, Daniel went searching for the family he’d never truly known. He found Timmy on Facebook, sent a message, and got a call that changed everything. Timmy’s first words were heavy: Kenny had been killed in a motorcycle accident. Timmy survived, but with life-altering injuries — physical, emotional, and the kind that settle deep in the quiet spaces of a mind.

They decided to meet.

When Timmy drove out to Daniel’s home, he brought a thick, weather-worn notebook packed with poetry, unfinished songs, and pages soaked in grief for the brother he lost. They walked out to the boardwalk in the woods and, in total darkness, began to play. Daniel strummed his Taylor acoustic, barely able to see the frets. Timmy flipped through his notebook instinctively, choosing pages he couldn’t actually read in the night air. And somehow, the music found its way.

Raw. Improvised. Unfiltered. Two cousins reconnecting not through the past they didn’t have — but through pain, memory, and the music that flickered between them like a shared pulse.

They played night after night, recording everything on Daniel’s Samsung phone. The audio wasn’t polished. The performances weren’t planned. But the magic was real. Every song Timmy chose was a love letter to Kenny: “Let It Go,” “No Regrets,” “Wheels of Fate,” “Walk Upon Your Grave,” “Without You,” “Push It All Away,” “The Master of Pain.” Songs about the accident. About carrying grief through the years. About the ache of waking up every day missing the person who should still be here.

Those recordings became a private treasure — imperfect, intimate, beautiful in their honesty.

Daniel always hoped for more. He and Timmy talked often about getting back together, about writing again, about someday making something bigger. Daniel even wrote an entire heavy album, dreaming of a different sound, a new chapter for the cousins who had finally found each other again.

But time had one more turn to make.

Timmy passed away last night.

Now Daniel is the last one left: his father gone, Kenny gone, Timmy gone. But the music remains — a fragile, irreplaceable thread connecting all three. And Daniel refuses to let it disappear.

eSTRANGEd couSINs is no longer just a band. It is a memorial. A promise. A way of keeping Timmy’s voice, his poetry, his grief, and his love for his brother alive in the world. These songs — rough, emotional, born in darkness — carry the truth of who he was.

And Daniel carries them forward, so the world can hear the heart of the cousin he finally got to know.
