Cid Inc’s Replug Records begins the new year with a fresh project from Mariano Mellino & Interaxxis.

Hailing from Argentina, Mariano is making his much anticipated debut on the label, while Interaxxis returns following a contribution to the critically acclaimed ‘Replugged, Vol. 2′ collection, released late last year. This is the first and highly anticipated collaboration from the Argentinean trio who collectively owns releases on Hernan Cattaneo’s Sudbeat Music and Guy Mantzur’s Plattenbank Records. Now looking to make a mark on 2017 Mariano and Interaxxis present ‘A Rush Morning’ alongside a remix from Orsen.

Both artists have been noted for spearheading the nu-progressive movement, not only in their homeland of Argentina but on a global scale as well. Groovy, musical and imminently danceable, it’s a fresh take on the roots of the genre, with ‘A Rush Morning’ perhaps defining the blueprint. Built around a warm, rhythmic core the trio expertly constructs a mesmerising narrative. Sitting at the foundation, chunky bass stabs carve out a fluid groove as bands of effects and spacey sonics steal the air. The track’s centrepiece proves to be a highlight, played out over a very compelling storyboard, with its expressive charm, cascading tones and dramatic pull leading to a dynamic dance floor moment. Perhaps a defining production for both Mariano and Interaxxis, with Hernan Cattaneo being the first to chime with support, having featured the track in his live sets all through the fall season and also showcasing it on his hugely popular Resident podcast in December.

The lone interpretation of ‘A Rush Morning’ is provided by Orsen who returns to the label for his fourth appearance. As manager and co A/R of Replug, Dan Baseley aka Orsen enjoyed the best year of his career in 2016, highlighted by the Beatport #1 ‘Komorebi’ EP, released courtesy of Hernan Cattaneo’s Sudbeat Music. The UK born, Austria based artist now begins 2017 in equally impressive fashion with an outstanding interpretation of ‘A Rush Morning’. A reshaped groove brings a driving energy as trailing delays and luminous textures meander throughout the framework. Highlighting the first act, an electric take on the lead theme carries nicely into the main break, where distinctive chords deliver their own melodic sparks. A smooth second act proves reflective, before one final break delivers the last piece of this of this dramatic sonic puzzle. A step up in intensity yet still quite true to the wondrous sensibility of the original. A heady remix from Orsen and a superb offering from Replug Records to kick off 2017. Highly Recommended.

Stephan Bodzin: a classically trained musician, vastly experienced producer and master of melody. He has built a reputation through countless releases under many aliases, and through his dramatic and dynamic live set capturing the hearts of fans worldwide. ‘Days Gone’ is the highly-anticipated return of core Afterlife act and fans favourite, Mind Against. A year after their ‘Solaris’ EP (AL002), the duo of Alex and Federico Fognini show once again why their moving, supremely-produced tracks are held in such esteem.

The title track takes you to another dimension, with a synth line spiralling into cosmic space and drums beating into oblivion. ‘Cloud Nine’, a classy, comparatively-understated cut for the early hours brings the energy back down. Stepping up to remix ‘Cloud Nine’ is Dystopian talent Alex.Do, who strips the sound back and distills the original’s graceful flourishes, completing a high-quality chapter in the Afterlife story.

The richly talented duo Mathame featured on the second Realm Of Consciousness compilation and have since been regulars in the sets of Tale Of Us with some sought-after, unreleased tracks. Their distinctive treatment of vocals marks their tracks out instantly, nowhere more so than on ‘Nothing Around Us’, with the cyber voice of the young Italian artist Lyke. The top quality production and original sound continue with the more understated ‘22’ and end with another prime example of Mathame’s vocal work, ‘Fade Into You’. This EP is a bold statement that crystallises the well-deserved excitement around Mathame.

It's been quite a wait for new &ME material here on Keinemusik. But these two new cuts, adding to our catalogue number KM046, sure have been worth waiting for. The EP starts with The Rapture Pt.II and as the title already suggests, it coherently takes up where his last original material had left us, in a stirred state of sweet, harmony-kissed affection. Known as a virtuoso of sound-details, &ME lives up to that reputation, implementing fine synth-elements and temperately rattling percussions, all conjoined by shimmering layers and, of course, an ultimately heart-melting Piano improvisation that at some point will play along to the rhythm of its synthetic brother to a finale that will leave no crowd untouched.

"Solaris" on the flipside adds indeed a futuristic note to the arrangement, opening up with a broken beat and propelling claps. A cut that, as much as its predecessor, is relying on flow and organic shifts rather than forced and peaktime formatted gimmickry, adding a synth arpeggio, white noise, vocal chants and harmonies in a rather subtle way. Nevertheless, it unfolds a compelling strength to heat the dancefloor gradually through its playtime.

Mathame refine their singular sound on ‘Skywalking’ and a collaboration with Tale Of Us, ‘Departure’.
Following 2018’s ‘Nothing Around Us’ single, Mathame show no sign of slowing down. Their Afterlife Recordings follow up is a dancefloor single of epic proportions, taking the duo further into a realm of their own. Tension hangs off the sliding chords and spacious arrangements. In the case of ‘Skywalking’ it reaches an uplifting, euphoric crescendo, in Tale Of Us’ intro edit of ‘Departure’ the theme goes darker and off-kilter. Bona fide anthems in the sets of Mathame and Tale Of Us.
