It’s not so long since we were blessed with “In A Huff” and “After My Bae”, and already Herr Meth is back to provide us with a third goldmine EP full of homemade bangers: “Lost My Meth”, this time with a slamming remix by his partner in crime DJ Frankie. 

Still as angry as ever, all efforts by the Brainwaves’ chain of command to keep the Meth under a semblance of stability have been absolutely fruitless, and when he is not busy pumping out bangers for the expectant masses, he spends his time with his mischievous and potentially imaginary alien friend Brian, dropping bombs in nightclubs and generally consuming inhuman quantities of illegal extra-galactic crystal substances.

Break Cycle marks Fly By Night’s third release of 2020 with a heavy fusion of breaks & electro from up-and-coming artist Tom Place in a 3-track EP. Following his releases on Bade Records and Aloka’s Typeless, this year has marked an emergence for Tom as he further embellishes his recognisable brand of techno inspired electro. The EPs opener, Eight Five, is a heavy-hitting electro track featuring a rolling drum beat and an instantly recognisable vocal echoing throughout its’ inner realms. Followed up by its’ more spacey counterpart Break Cycle, a track which builds tension perfectly and exactly surmises what makes Tom’s production so exciting to listen out for right now. Featuring heavy UK bass influences, this track really doesn’t belong in a world where vibrating soundsystems can’t pulse out its’ unrelenting bassline. The EP is wrapped up with the genre-defying Transients, a floaty, emotional track, which serves as a reminder to Tom’s dubstep roots, while still remaining indistinctively electro. Break Cycle embodies a perfect summary of the direction Fly By Night are pushing into as a label, at the start of a busy period of more things to come from both the artist and label.

The songs you hear on this compilation are sourced from both the icons of the trap / electronic scene as well as submissions from rising stars in our community. Good innovative music is what’s important to us; whether you’re a main stage artist or a bedroom DJ, we’re here to salute creativity in the genre that brought us together.

We also seek to drive change at a larger level. All proceeds from the BOOST TAPE series are donated to progressive causes in order to uplift voices that must be heard.
