I was born in a small town.
Smack dab in the middle, 
of the U S A...(Hey, hey, hey)
Born at six eleven, 
on the second day of May.
Have a mother and a father, 
two sisters and a brother.
Me, being the youngest,
By nine years at least.

My first memory was, 
my mother, rocking me to sleep. 
As I would stare at a reflection of the front door. 
Reflected in the television screen, 
Listening to The Carpenters, 
while my mother sings... 
I remember my family playing. 
The Beach Boys, Paul Simon, and the Moody Blues. 
My oldest sister, used to, play the piano, 
and was fond, of Barry Manilow too... 

My mom did clothes alterations. 
Much of my time was spent with her. 
Playing downstairs in the sewing room. 
Where I would arrange magnetic letters 
on the side of the freezer door. 
Or dump a big bottle of buttons, 
all... over the floor. 
Taking in their sizes, colors, and designs.
As my mother sewed the clothes I wore.

I don’t recall my father being around, 
much, When I was little. 
I believe that's because, 
he had several jobs. 
And the times that I remember... 
Seeing him in the house. 
He was usually doing repairs. 
Putting up walls, or walking down stairs.

I remember rolls of carpet,
A vacuum cleaner too...
I used to touch the pins of an AC outlet,
and be E-lec-tro-cuted!

I played with helicopters,
and whirlybirds...
I had a dog named troubles.
And I, Once ate his turd.

I have a memory,..
of a warm summers day. 
Where my sisters took me to 
A pool party to play.
With their high-school friends, 
in bikinis and sunscreen... 
I remember raspberries. 
All over the ground. 
And that, unforgettable sound of E.L.O. 
Playing on the radio...
Saying, ahh, ah, ah,  ah, ah...
ohh, oh , oh, oh, oh...

Then there's my brother.
Who always had the cool stuff.
Like a giant poster of the lunar lander.
Model rockets, and chemistry sets. 
Slot cars and Aurora race tracks. 
Rock collections, and cassettes too...

He had the first computer.
I'm sure I'd ever seen...
He used to play Dungeons and Dragons. 
By Typing On the screen.

Those were the days... 
Life was simple not hard.
I could spend all day 
climbing a tree in my yard. 

Or cross the street, to play 
with my friend Steve.
With his green machine, 
beneath a cherry tree.

Or, on his M X bike, 
doing our first, wheelies.
Eating salt water taffy, 
and acting silly.

At the public pool, 
Playing KSKG.
Watching dollar movies.
At least once a week.

I remember breaking my toy drum,
That had a paper head.
Hiding some bad stuff, 
Under neath my bed.

Eating cake decorations,
when no one was looking...
and spoiling my dinner,
While my mom was cooking.

I remember crab apple fights,
In our back yard.
I used a trash can lid,
since my brother threw hard.

I remember hollow green plants,
you could pop in your hand.

Climbing white picket fences,
again, and again. 

Running through neighbors yard,
Playing hide and seek. 
Kick the can.
Cow boys, and Indians.

Digging in the dirt,
just to see what I'd find. 
I had a great imagination,
not a lot, on my mind.

Picking cicadas off the trees.
Examining the shell that they would leave.
Chasing bug sprayers on our bikes.
While breathing D. D. T.!
